Committee Meetings Open to the Public 31st March to 3rd April

The Parliamentary committee meetings listed below will be open to the public during the week commencing Monday 31st March.

Members of the public may attend the meetings, but as observers only, not as participants, i.e. may listen but not speak.  The meetings are at Parliament in Harare.  If attending, please use the entrance on Kwame Nkrumah Ave between 2nd and 3rd Streets.  Note that IDs must be produced.

The above details are based on the latest information from Parliament.  But, as there are sometimes last-minute changes to the meetings schedule, persons wishing to attend should avoid disappointment by checking with the relevant committee clerk [see names below] that the meeting is still on and open to the public.  Parliament’s telephone numbers are Harare 700181 and 252940/1.

Fact-finding visits

Registrar-General’s Office   The Portfolio Committee on Defence, Home Affairs and Security Services will be paying a fact-finding visit to the Registrar-General’s Offices at Makombe Building and Kaguvi Building.

Marondera and Murehwa hospitals  The Thematic Committee on MDGs will be considering its itinerary for visits to these hospitals.

Young women’s projects  The Portfolio Committee on Women’s Affairs, Gender and Community Development will be considering its final draft itinerary for visits to these projects.

Deliberations

Justice delivery system  The Thematic Committee on Human Rights will be deliberating on oral evidence received from the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.

Flood victims  The Thematic Committee on Peace and Security will be deliberating on oral evidence received from the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing on the current situation regarding relocation of flood victims.
