Zanu PF national youth secretary for production and labour Betty Dhliwayo has been appointed acting Manicaland youth chairperson, following the suspension of Mubuso Chinguno.

Speaking at a provincial executive meeting in Mutare yesterday, Dhliwayo called for unity among members of the executive as investigations into Chinguno’s alleged shenanigans continue.

She also expressed concern at factionalism that has crept into the party.

“Manicaland must not have factional fights and that is why we have always resolved to support President Robert Mugabe as our presidential candidate in the 2018 elections. We are fully behind President Mugabe and Amai Mugabe and we are saying no to factions,” Dhliwayo said.

She said she was also concerned by the low numbers of people from Zanu PF who have registered to vote.

Some executive members during the Mutare meeting blamed Chinguno for the low turnout during the ongoing biometric voter registration exercise.

Chinguno was this week suspended as the provincial chairman over allegations of swindling $400 000 meant to develop stands for the party youths in Chipinge.

But Chinguno has come out guns blazing, accusing Zanu PF national youth league secretary, Kudzanai Chipanga, Dhliwayo and other national and provincial executive members of looting the funds and making him the fall guy.

Chinguno said at its best, the company developing stands for the youth had only $58 855 while dismissing allegations that $400 000 had been misappropriated.
