By Simbarashe Chikanza| The man who was the State Security Minister, Didymus Mutasa, says the late former MDC-T Treasurer General, Roy Bennett should be buried in Zimbabwe.

Unbeknown to many Zimbabweans, Mutasa is the one who actually “brought Bennett into ZANU PF,” years before the late MDC politician joined the opposition Morgan Tsvangirai led party.

He spoke to ZimEye early Saturday morning of Bennett who died in a helicopter accident in the US on Wednesday night.

Elder Mutasa told ZimEye, “he (Bennett) speaks Chindawu through and through, he speaks Chindawu when he speaks in Shona and he is such a lovely young man, because I dealt with him; so yeah, he should be buried back home ku Chimanimani. That is where he came from, and I think that is where he should end,” he said.

He continued by consoling the Bennett family, “I am very sorry don’t know who to offer my condolences to, perhaps to the whole of Zimbabwe.

“I know him perfectly well, we were very good friends, and each time he travelled to Harare, when he had time, he would stop at my place in Rusape and then proceed, but I had no issues with him,” he added.

Mutasa also cleared Bennett of the allegations of hoarding arms that eventually saw him being hounded out of Zimbabwe.
