HARARE – The number of foreign tourists visiting Zimbabwe are projected to
jump by around 10 percent on the back of the recent political transition,
the Zimbabwe Council for Tourism (ZCT) has said, putting the country
firmly on track for another record year for tourism.

“The previous year (2016) our target was 2,1 million tourists and this
year we have registered a positive growth to 2,3 million tourists.

“Now we are expecting 10 percent growth in 2018 as we bank on the positive
political developments that are taking place in the country,” ZCT
president Tich Hwingwiri said.

“ZCT is excited that the future prospects are much improved by recent
political changes, including the appointment of President Emmerson
Mnangagwa.

“Tourism must ride on the back of huge international visibility of late to
create awareness of its offerings as a leading African tourist
destination,” Hwingwiri said.

He said the ZCT’s undertaking was that in 2018 it will work towards an
acceptance that travel and tourism can and will become the country’s
leading economic sector by mid-century and that support needs to come from
all stakeholders to create an operating environment in which this becomes
possible.

Probably diasporans returning to visit their relatives – depressed and impoverished by the Zanu Junta? However, good window dressing by The Junta.

Good propaganda Vasco. Keep up the good work. You really need to deceive the people and the world as much as you can about Emmerson and Perence Shiri – tell everybody that the Gukuruhundi never happened.

Make the Changes prove that it is had been done for the ordinary Zimbabwean to date there has been no benefit nothing appears to be credible . Tourists are not ignorant most would like to support the economic situation as long as it is not keeping the pockets of the corrupt officials, such as paying for the medical fees travel & expenses of the ousted one. Unless the report is false. How can the ones running the country sleep at night . It really boggles the mind. Change & maybe you will at least earn a little respect,

Tourist will spread the word if the Zimbabwe police force are still extracting money at road blocks. If Zim’ wants tourists back they need to be tourist friendly.
