Former Zanu-PF national youth secretary Kudzanai Chipanga was granted $500 bail. He has been ordered to reside at 826 Jarcana Close in Greystone Park, report twice a week between 6am-12 noon & 3pm- 6pm everyday. He was also ordered not to interfere with state witnesses.

Chipanga will however spend another night in remand prison and will only be released will tomorrow. Court officials have said that they are preparing an order which they will then send for typing.

Chipanga was represented by Professor Lovemore Madhuku. He is facing charges of publishing or communicating false statements prejudicial to the State or alternatively causing disaffection among the police force or defence forces.

The charges arise from a statement which Chipanga read out on 14 November 2017 in which he allegedly denigrated the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and its Commander General Constantino Chiwenga. Chipanga apologised for making the statement and said that he was not the author of the statement he read. He said that the statement was handed to him by one Rodney Dangarembizi.
