THE Zanu-PF Politburo is meeting tomorrow to discuss various issues affecting the party and general state of the economy. Government, through implementation of party policies had made various interventions to address economic challenges that had been fuelled by cash shortage on the market. Party secretary for administration Cde Ignatius Chombo confirmed the meeting.Although he could not divulge the agenda of the meeting, The Herald understands that latest political developments and the economy would take centre stage.
“Yes, we are meeting on Wednesday as Politburo,” Cde Chombo said curtly.
Zanu-PF sources said Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa could give an update on measures being implemented by Government to improve the economy.
Last month, Minister Chinamasa presented several intervention measures to the party’s Central Committee, which he said were at various stages of implementation.
Among the interventions, Minister Chinamasa said Government had introduced cash withdrawal limits and had put in place mechanisms to ensure that companies, especially those in the retail sector bank their money.
Said the source: “Another aspect that can be up for discussion is the issue of appeals that are still pending. Cde Sydney Sekeramayi could also give a report on the current developments in the war veterans sector, where some few individuals are seeking to cause confusion in that critical arm. You know Zanu-PF and war veterans cannot be separated so it is important that the party establish the origins of that document disguised as a war veterans’ communiqué.”
War veterans have since put in motion the process of electing a new executive following the expulsion of Mr Chris Mutsvangwa from Zanu-PF.
President Mugabe, as the patron of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association, had also advised the freedom fighters to elect a new leadership.
Last week, war veterans gathered at the Zanu-PF national headquarters to express their unconditional support to President Mugabe and Zanu-PF.
The source said: “A preparatory roadmap for the National People’s Conference to be held in Masvingo in December is also likely to be discussed. We need to set various committees to do the preparations of that conference.”
Another key aspect that could be up for discussion is the security situation after Government established that there was a third force in the recent disturbances in some parts of the country.
Western embassies such as France and the US were implicated as chief funders of some shadowy groups such as #Tajamuka as part of its regime change agenda in Zimbabwe.

So there was no ‘communique’ after all. There was merely a document ‘disguised’ as a communique, authored by treasonous subverters of a constitutionally elected government.
The fact is that Zimbabwe is now a genuine de facto dictatorship. When it becomes treasonous to criticise the president, and the president has the power to decree that a war veteran is not, in fact, a war veteran, it has moved out of the realm of autocracy and has to be acknowledged that – legally – the country is under the sole rule of one individual.
This point should be made forcefully to the assholes in SADC and the AU who don’t know which direction is up.
