CRISIS in Zimbabwe Coalition (CIZC) has condemned recent remarks by First Lady Grace Mugabe declaring that her aged husband would rule Zimbabwe from the grave.
“We have every reason to fear that the First Lady’s utterances could take the country back to the bloody era of 2008 when about 200 MDC-T supporters were murdered by Zanu PF activists who sought to safeguard President Robert Mugabe’s continued stay in office,” said CIZC in a statement.
“If anything, the statements by the First Lady explain Zimbabwe’s history of contested elections and also confirm sentiments by President Mugabe that he will not be removed from office by the stroke of a pen (implying elections).”
President Mugabe turned 92 this February and noticeably struggles to stay on his feet amid reports of increasingly failing health.
But the Zanu PF leader, in power since 1980, refuses to step down and vows to run for another term in office at the next elections in 2018 when he will be 94.
Previously Grace has also declared that her husband would not retire, adding she would buy him a special wheelchair or take him to work in wheelbarrow if necessary.
But, aware that the veteran leader cannot defy mortality, Grace told supporters at last week’s “Million-Men” that Mugabe would rule Zimbabwe even from the Heroes Acre.
CIZC deplored the remarks, warning that such utterances risked inciting violence against “known and perceived” opponents of President Mugabe “within and outside the ruling party”.
“Since the axing of former Vice President, Joice Mujuru from Zanu PF on allegations of planning to topple Mugabe, there has been an upsurge of intra-party violence in the ruling party … within Zanu (PF)
“ … as President Robert Mugabe’s loyalists bay for the blood of his (President Mugabe) perceived opponents and we fear the recent remarks by the First Lady could further worsen the situation,” warned CIZC.
The civil society organisation added that the First Lady’s remarks expose “unresolved succession issues within Zanu PF” that could fuel political instability which comes with “disastrous effects on the national economy”.
“CIZC implores the First Lady to desist from reckless statements that have the potential to cause unnecessary conflicts in the country,” the organization said.
“Moreover, the country’s Constitution is clear on Presidential term limits and goes further to lay out conditions for the removal of the President from office under Section 97 and President Robert Mugabe is certainly not immune in any way to the conditions outlined in the country’s Constitution.”

To the Editor: – Sir, I am delighted to see that Mrs Mugabe has acknowledged some use of the previous oppressive colonial regime. Without the wheelbarrow, she would be unable to transport her dynamic spouse to the parliamentary hut. My research has indicated to me that, had this amazing contraption been available at the time, Great Zimbabwe could have been constructed by ten men in about 15 years, instead of the several centuries which it reportedly took. Thank goodness the appliance wasn’t patented, or she could be arrested by the ZRP at a roadblock.
PS – aren’t Zinara losing potential revenue at their toll gates?
Grace Mugabe as a former PA, thinks nothing except of money and Mugabe is that avenue to the money. She does not even have a clue that life ends and another one begin, that is hell and torment. She also does not even sit down and think that Mugabe in 1980 was strong and energetic now is frail not because of witchcraft but aging which is natural, death is also a common provision for humanity to change roles. Mugabe may have someone to wheelbarrow him to the parliament or where ever her imagination take her, but who is going to wheelbarrow her or take Mugabe there. She forgets that she will also be very tired and old. Beside, Zimbabwe is not a country for Mugabe to rule for indefinately. Most of the power she feels now is stolen, through corrupting military and the ZRP. There are various pieces of legislation who may effectively remove that power. Military retiring age is now 5o years. That means in about two years or so, the oldest military man would be omeone born in the early 70s with very little knowledge and no experience of the war. That man is someone who has not tasted good life after school due to Mugabe’s mismanage of the economy. That man will have a lot of unfulfilled dreams or has one of his parents brutalized by ZRP or the army in the 1990 or so for one thing or the other. So the very powers Mugabe feels comfy around will be tormenting him.

Do not be surprised by the utterances of Grace MARUFU-mugabe (note the small print in the surname) She is a clueless money grabbing witch who bewitched a man twice her age and dragged him into HER marital bed even before our MOTHER SALLY was still alive and she was still legally married to the poor guy who was her Husband. She knows what will happen to her and her brood once BOB kicks the bucket, just like every Witch, she believes that Mugabe will defy nature and rule from the grave.By the looks of it, he might probably be ruling from the grave following all his falls and dozing during important meetings and the slogan “PASI NEZANU” She might be right, it should be rephrased “MUGABE IS RULING FROM THE GRAVE!”
Do not be misled by the utterances of Grace MARUFU mugabe (note the small print in the surname) She is a misguided shallow minded witch who used her spell on a man more than twice her age and dragged him into her marital bed even before the real Mai MUGABE our beloved matriarch SALLY and while she was still married to the poor guy who was her husband. As like All witches, she believes that Mugabe will defy nature and continue to rule Zimbabwe from beyond the gave! She knows what will happen to her and her ill gotten brood once BOB kicks the bucket hence the belief. On a different note, she could be partially right because when one looks at the way Mugabe keeps falling and sleeping at important meetings he is probably already dead but still ruling! One must not also forget that he (MUGABE) Uttered the right words about his party by saying “PASI NE ZANU (P.F). A statement that was heard the world over!
