A TEENAGE girl who went on a sex romp with her boyfriend on New Year’s Day allegedly influenced her lover’s friend to rape her 11-year-old younger sister in the same room, a court heard this week.

Hwange regional magistrate heard this on the appearance of 25-year-old Mfanelo Ncube, from Kheswa area in Lupane, who was facing two counts of rape.

Ncube pleaded guilty to both counts and was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

He will however spend 12 years behind bars after the magistrate suspended three years on conditions.

Ncube blamed his actions on intoxication.

“I was drunk after taking many scuds (opaque beer) and I didn’t know what I was doing,” he said.

The brave Grade 6 girl narrated her ordeal to her father after the second rape despite her elder sister and Ncube’s threats to assault her if she reported the attack to anyone.

Court heard that on New Year’s Day, the girl and her elder sister were at Jibajiba Business Centre celebrating with other villagers.

“They left at 8PM going home and were accompanied by the elder sister’s boyfriend called Dalaz Moyo and Ncube.

“Upon arrival at home, the younger girl and her sister went straight to their bedroom hut and were followed by Moyo while Ncube remained outside,” said prosecutor Tawanda Sigauke.

The court heard that the little girl slept on the far end of the room while her elder sister and her boyfriend shared blankets on the other end where they were having sex.

“During the night while the little girl was asleep, she felt someone was in her blankets and upon checking she discovered it was Ncube who was sleeping beside her.

“The girl screamed but Ncube closed her mouth with his hand and immediately mounted and started raping her.

Rapist returned for second attack

“As he was raping her, the girl tried to scream but her sister and Ncube threatened to assault her if she continued to make noise,” said the prosecutor.

After raping his victim, Ncube went away and the girl didn’t tell anyone about the rape as she feared she would be assaulted.

The court was told that Ncube raped the girl again on February 2 when he went to her place of residence at night.

“The two girls retired to bed at 8PM and, later that night, night the victim felt someonesleeping in her blankets.

“She checked since the candle was on and noticed it was Ncube who then ordered her to keep quite before raping her once,” said Sigauke.

After the attack Ncube threatened the little girl with assault if she reported to anyone what had happened.

The girl however, informed her father in the morning who reported the abuse to the police on February 7, leading to Ncube’s arrest.

The court did not however invite the girl’s elder sister to testify.
