via Guzah, Hurungwe West and Dotty Arguments – The Zimbabwean 24 June 2015
If one wishes to seek fault with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), there is no difficulty in finding a basis for so doing (see for example RAU’s publication ZEC and the 2013 Election: An Appraisal).
There is certainly no need to find fault where it does not exist, as has been done in the case of Keith Guzah, the victorious ZANU PF candidate in the Hurungwe West by-election of 10th June 2015. Such criticism is founded upon a misunderstanding of the law, and merely supports ZEC’s own misapplication of the Electoral Act.
