Zimbabwe’s First Lady, Grace Mugabe has disclosed that her fallout with under fire Vice President, Joice Mujuru is a tit for tat thing. Grace made the remarks at the Zanu (PF) Sixth National Congress during her speech following her endorsement to lead the party’s Women’s League.

She said when she became aware of Mujuru’s machinations to remove her husband, President Robert Mugabe from power, she tried to resolve issues amicably with Mujuru, but to no avail.

Grace said she became enraged when Mujuru went on to denounce her to some party members.

“I had no intentions of denouncing Mujuru in public but she is the one who decided to go public yet we all knew what she was doing. She talked a lot of bad things about me but I would keep quiet. I told her to leave her way of doing things but she would not listen to me. That was why I had to stand up and stop her,” said Grace.

She accused Mujuru of abusing her war credentials to engage in corruption and at the same time losing allegiance to President Robert Mugabe.

“Of course she went to war and we respect that but one cannot act corruptly and divide the party just because of your war credentials,” said Grace.

During her Meet the People Tour ahead of the congress, Grace accused Mujuru of corruption and “an agent of regime change” who was working In cahoots with Western countries to unseat Mugabe from power.

Following the tours, there has been a purge of perceived Mujuru loyalists in Zanu (PF) provincial structures across the country.

Grace blamed Mujuru of having worked to oppose her nomination to lead the Women’s League.
