Jobs promise: 86pct ‘betrayed by Bob lie’

THE majority of Zimbabweans feel betrayed by Zanu PF and accuse the ruling party of lying that it would create employment if voted into sole charge of the country at the July 2013 elections, a survey by Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI) has established.

According to the Afrobarometer-commissioned research which sampled 2,400 adults from the country’s 10 provinces in November 2014, 86 percent of Zimbabweans said the ruling party “lied” to the people that they would hundreds of thousands of new jobs once voted into office.

The results of the survey were released last Thursday in Harare.

President Robert Mugabe campaigned on a manifesto that promised to create more than two million new jobs over a period of five years.

But two years into his new mandate, unemployment remains over 80 percent, hundreds of companies continue to close and millions of people have been forced to resort to vending.

Mugabe and his party lied in their manifesto, respondents told the Harare-based MPOI.

“Government lied to us and that is bad the government promised us employment and indigenisation but they have done so little to achieve this.

“They have not even bothered themselves with employment creation; and unemployment is still high in the country,” one of the interviewees from Mashonaland West said.

MPOI said none of their Harare and Matabeleland participants could identify a single positive thing done by Zanu PF since the 2013 election.

“It was interesting to note that some participants in Matabeleland had a difficult time to try to point out positive things that had been achieved by the post-Government of National Unity,” noted MPOI.

Said a Bulawayo participant: “Most of the things they (Zanu PF) promised during the campaign period vanished into thin air.

“They have promised so many people that they are going to create employment, and that factories would re-open, but instead the factories are closing and people are left jobless.”

One of Harare interviewees according to MPOI said; “Looking g at their manifesto, we were imagining that once they got into power we would all afford suits and some of us would be going to work.

“But what I see is that all the promises they made have not been fulfilled. They told us they would boost the economy but, in actual fact, things are getting worse”.

Zanu PF promised to create 2.2 million jobs within a period of five years after being elected into power but has failed to deliver on the pledge.

According to the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, unemployment is now over 80% owing to continued company closures with the offloaded workers venturing into vending for survival.

What do you mean Zanu PF lied? They created 222% jobs for themselves. The people must vote. After that ZVAVHARANA! The people must find their own ways to survive! And vote for us when we say so! So we win RESOUNDINGLY!

The people of Zimbabwe cannot blame anyone but themselves (though they will try, of course) They must also be the most stupid people in the world.

ZPF and Mugabe have lied for 35 years without a break. In my opinion, stupidity deserves to suffer. Maybe then some people will learn? But I somehow doubt it.
