Zanu PF commissar Saviour Kasukuwere is staring down the barrel of a gun, as war veterans are gunning for his head, accusing him of imposing candidates and also subtly claiming he and other unnamed politburo members were supping with the West in the hope they will be rewarded for ousting President Robert Mugabe.
After weeks of internal fights epitomised by the chaos over the selection of the party’s candidate for the Harare East constituency by-election, with two distinct factions emerging, one led by Kasukuwere and another by the party’s secretary for administration, Ignatius Chombo, the war veterans saw an opportune time to step in.
