BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe (AP) — Protesters in Zimbabwe have used a cricket match against New Zealand as the scene of their latest anti-government demonstration.

People stood, waved the national flag and sang the national anthem Saturday during the 36th over to protest the 36 years of President Robert Mugabe’s time in power.

A few people ran around the pitch with flags.

No arrests were seen during the protest, but an Associated Press reporter saw one person arrested before the match. Police also led away a few people wearing graduation gowns to protest the lack of employment opportunities in Zimbabwe, whose economy is in crisis.

The cricket demonstration was called for by pastor Evan Mawarire, who had launched a social media campaign urging people to display the flag to protest alleged government failures.
