Mutasa has seen the light, Tsvangirai

HONDE VALLEY: MDC-T President Morgan Tsvangirai Friday said he was happy that people like fired Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Didymus Mutasa were now singing from the same hymn book with his party after realising that their former party does not subscribe to principles of democracy.

Tsvangirai made these remarks while addressing hundreds of party supporters at a rally held at Hauna Growth Point in Honde Valley.

The former premier said he was impressed that Mutasa, whom he described as his nephew, has finally seen the light and now knows that Mugabe is a dictator.

“It’s surprising to hear people like Mutasa saying Mugabe stole the elections but recently he was castigating me saying they did not want to see me.

“But if we now see the same way that our country needs change in terms of leadership, then we are moving in the same direction. We should put our efforts together to see that Mugabe and Zanu PF must go,” said Tsvangirai.

He said Zimbabweans were going through difficult times, adding that “Mugabe does not have the future of this country at heart”.

“We will not go to the 2018 election without reforms in place.

“We are not saying we are boycotting the elections but we need reforms that will guarantee us that the wishes of the people will be respected,” said Tsvangirai.

Tsvangirai said among the reforms they were demanding was the full implementation of the new Constitution.

The MDC-T president also castigated the security sector for being partisan. This follows the disruption of his meeting with the MDC-T’s Manicaland Provincial Executive at Mutare hall on Thursday

“We don’t want a security sector which behaves like the extension of Zanu PF. We want police officers, central intelligence operatives and army officials who are professional. You are not Zanu PF people but government workers,” said Tsvangirai.

“Please stop being used to victimise Tsvangirai and people of Hauna because they don’t support Zanu PF.

“We say no to that kind of behavior. We want a free country where people are free to carry out their activities without fear.”

Tsvangirai said there was no liberation to talk of in Zimbabwe as most citizens are still living in captivity.

“There is need for us to act to rescue the citizens from jaws of Zanu-PF. People have suffered enough in this country,” he said.

He also criticised the government’s indigenization programme, saying it has failed to produce tangible results.

“Who will come to invest in a country where 51 percent is taken by the ruling elite before you even start your business? Who will invest in the farms that are now lying idle and have been reduced to bushes?” said Tsvangirai.

He said Zimbabwe needs a new government to bring economic stability.

“We cannot replace Zanu PF with Zanu PF. We need to move forward and bring about change that transforms lives of all Zimbabweans,” said Tsvangirai.

Tsvangirai blamed Mugabe for reversing the gains made during the inclusive government and plunging the country into poverty.

“There is no employment to talk of in Zimbabwe. Every citizen has been reduced to a vendor. Instead of creating jobs you are creating vendors,” said the MDC-T leader.

“People are being retrenched and it’s difficult for people to access a dollar. Is this the kind of life we like that we being subjected to by Robert Mugabe?”

I dont trust all those ex zanu pf thugs. Had they not been fired, could they have been saying the same? Mutasa is a bitter man, He only wants to prolong his political career when he is actually a political dinosaur. He will in any case import zanu pf ideological beliefs to any political party. He is leftover, rubbush, litter and must not be taken sireously. People like T Mliswas, J Sibandas they are all junk….irrelevant to democratic forces. Bin them. Tsvangirai you must fix those screws in your head and think of people you want to bring closer
