NEWSDAY reporter Richard Chidza has been summoned by Officer Commanding CID Law and Order Division Detective Assistant Commissioner Crispen Makedenge, to the Harare Central police station this morning.

Chidza who was accompanied by Alpha Media Holdings company secretary Sifikile Thabete has been called in connection with the stinging communiqué issued by war veterans weeks ago demanding that President Robert Mugabe steps down from power.
Following the release of the communiqué the Mugabe regime has cracked down on war veterans investigating the sources of the communiqué and he (Chidza) becomes the latest victim in the crackdown which has been extended to the media.
It is not immediately clear if police will arrest the reporter or will just question him.
