No elections, Mugabe to pick own deputies

via No elections, Mugabe to pick own deputies 23 November 2014

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe has changed the constitution of his ruling Zanu PF party to allow him to directly appoint his deputies, giving the 90-year-old sole power to anoint his successor, party sources said on Sunday.

Until now Mugabe and his two Zanu PF deputies have been elected by members from the country’s 10 regions. The deputies automatically took up the same posts in government.

The changes to the Zanu PF charter enacted at an all-night meeting of its politburo give Mugabe an even tighter grip at a time when deputy president Joice Mujuru has been accused of plotting to oust him at a party congress next month.

Zanu PF’s chairman told reporters that the party had agreed “far-reaching amendments” to its constitution.

He declined to give details but two senior Zanu PF members at the marathon meeting of the party’s top executive body told Reuters Mugabe would now appoint his deputies, giving him unassailable control of a party he has led since 1975.

“There will no longer be elections for deputies. They will all be appointees now and the logic is that this will bring cohesion in the party,” one of the officials said.

The changes will be adopted by a larger Central Committee this week before endorsement at the December 2-7 congress, where Mugabe is set to be elected unopposed as party leader.

Proponents of the amendments argued that elected deputies were creating parallel centres of power, the party sources said, leading to factional fights as party members position themselves to eventually take over from Mugabe.

Mugabe, who has run Zimbabwe since independence from Britain in 1980, has refused to name a successor but Mujuru and Justice Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa have long been seen as likely successors when Africa’s oldest head of state dies or retires.

In the last three weeks, Mujuru has been systematically stripped of support, with her allies either suspended or fired for backing her. State media have also accused her of plotting to challenge Mugabe.

Mujuru has denied the charges and says public calls by Mugabe’s wife Grace and state media for her to resign are unconstitutional.

Not that you enjoy any credibility Mr Mugabe but choosing your own deputies is to make people hate you more and your friends will bring you down…Remember what Ceaser said..”Et too Brute’!” This is so very interesting to watch as it plays out.

Poor old Zimbabwe, the Great has
been stripped from the old girl!

How one man (sic) can take a hugely
    vibrant, enormously rich and advanced
    County, and single-handedly destroy it,
    is unfathomable!

He could have still robbed, pillaged,
embezzled to his hearts content, and left
    Zimbabwe rich, but NO!

He had to offend Investors, kill Agriculture,
destroy Banks, close Industries, divide People
    and murder Citizens.

There is NO place for this monster, except Hades!

So here he is, aged 90, still grabbing more and more power for himself.
To what end? How does this benefit Zimbabwe?
Who is the nation’s biggest sell-out?
    It is you, Mr Mugabe.

I will only say maybe???? it has taken 35 years for people to be outspoken about our leadership since 1980.
I repeat maybe ???? I will put my bottom dollar on the fact that nothing will change, not even if the nasty little man meets his maker, love to be a fly at Peter’s gate.
If a nation can openly sit back and be traumatised for so long what does one expect of our future.
    Not at lot.

jesse james if you have been following this forum you will know that this was all predicted by people on this forum. People like HUTU predicted this to the T. We that have faith are glad that this is taking place. Do you know what? like a computer Zanu has been infected by a self inflicted virus. Things will change. Just as soon as we change this operating system called Zanu. The hard drive is on it’s last. With all respect to you, all you have to do is BELIEVE.We need Zanu disabled. That is happening. Soon you will see what we are talking about.

I think that this is good for Zanu PF, this is the result of their ever trusting Mugabe in everything. For years they have believed that Mugabe is always right and now they still have to believe that he is right even though he is now taking the party down the garden path as he has done to the country.

There is no point in this Congress after all. The guys is 90 and he believes he is still the all-knowing and he will choose people who will not say a word or even suggest anything lest they be classified as sell-outs. That cannot be right but that is the Zanu way of doing things.

Forget succession, his plans have always been for himself and himself alone and nobody else. Now he is beginning to think of Grace and so the presidium will now be filled by people who are amenable to Grace and who will dance to Grace’s tunes.

It’s his party, it’s always been so let him do whatever he wants, the only problem is that he is also president of Zimbabwe at the moment and that is the least of his priorities and that’s where I think the problem lies. Only if he could give our Zimbabwe back and keep whatever is remaining of Zanu.

When something is rotting it is swarmed by big green flies. Mugabe is brain rotten and has big green flies swarming on him. Just to show his brain is dead and those around him just like flies are brainless…will those hand picked leaders command respect and credility in the party let alone the country? In the event mugabe dies in first half of 2015 will that not take the country into a civil war and blood bath? True, Zanu fools you may be trying to out manouvre each other but at what cost to the nation? I’m no prophet but mugabe is an idiot whose death will bring chaos greater than the Arab spring. Iwe rombe rekamudhara you will be lucky to be buried and that which you fear to be the fate of your family you have sealed it in hearts and minds, first of your own people and secondly of nation at large. You rather die outside the country which is the only place your burial is guaranteed.
Never think of a 21 gun salute at heroes acre because you are a villain and traitor.

Please can those who run this site tell me why my blogs do not show up. I have never succumbed to hate speech but I am a Christian and do use scripture. Is it because of this???? Is it okay to write hate-filled blogs but not okay to quote scripture or give a warning or prophetic word? Just wondering!
