Zimbabwean ex-military personnel are in South African robbing banks and promoting criminality, this is according to Police Minister Fikile Mbalula.

Addressing the media at the SAPS training centre in Pretoria, Mbalula said some Zimbabweans escape their military duties in their country, illegally get into South Africa and get involved in criminal activities.

“The criminals who did criminality at Hyde Park and stole jewellery, we arrested them, five of them and I was attacked on Twitter for saying that they are all from Zimbabwe. Yes they are from Zimbabwe.”

” There are people who come from Zimbabwe and cross the line here. They run away from the military in Zimbabwe and they come and promote criminality here in South Africa. That is the truth, where should I tell that truth?,” said Mbalula.

He said that it is difficult for the police to trace the said criminals because their details are not captured as they are in the country illegally.

“They are in the payroll of criminals and we can’t trace them. When you steal, let me tell you, it’s easy to trace you because I will find you somewhere in the forensic because I’ve got your fingerprints. I’ve got you all covered South Africans. I’ve got your fingerprints, you come here you steal, I’m going to arrest you very easy, but Zimbabweans? Where will I find them? They enter the country illegally and then they just come here and not promote goodwill.”

Maintaining that his remarks should not be confused with xenophobia, Mbalula said that he had no problems with Zimbabweans as they are working in South Africa in “our kitchens’ and that they are highly educated.

“And don’t confuse that to xenophobia, it’s not xenophobia. Zimbabweans are working for us in this country, very good Zimbabweans. They are working in our kitchens, they are everything and so on. Highly educated people. If there’s anything President [Robert] Mugabe did is to educate his people. The people who are working in your kitchens are doctors. They are more educated than you, from Zimbabwe.”

“Then there is a group of these criminals who are from the army and they come here in this country, they rob, terrorise and they kill. That’s what they do. So we arrest them and we’ve got them and that is it,” said Mbalula.

While it could have some elements of truth that some former military pple from Zim are using their skills to eke a living ruthless & selfish world or country like SA, but clearly there is something wrong with the minister of police’s understanding of reality – assume he says what he believes. Yes, the skill cld be deployed extralegally at times, especially depending on circumstances. My problem with the know-it-all SA minister of police is: firstly he categorically pronounces the individuals to be in SA for purposes of promoting criminality; secondly he goes on to boast of him & fellow S. Africans employing PhD holders from Zim as housemaids, gardeners, etc – and he certainly said it with an ura of pride. The question is: Does he really think Zimbo are so stupid that they wld invest heavily and struggle to achieve highest level of educational qualification (PhD) for purposes of begging to apply for a job at his home as gardeners/maids? Can’t he see something seriously wrong there? Clearly, these are pple who have been put in a very desperate (do or die) situation by their own autocratic regime. But more so, the regime managed to achieve that because of the backing & encouragement from a number of other rogue African regimes – and of course, the SA government is chief among such regimes that have actively nurtured the obtaining situation in Zim now. In fact, the way the police minister puts his pronouncements across serves to satisfy a long held view among many of us, which is: the SA government/regime, and may be even SA pple in general, have always considered the destruction of Zim by a rogue regime as a blessing to them. Hence we now hear every Tom & Dick who happens to be S. African boasting employed PhD holders from Zim as maid servants. What an achievement for the shallow minded! Nxaaaa!

But simple logic we tell us that, the moment you revel in the burning down of you neighbor’s source of livelihood is the very moment you should start preparing to feed him/her – whether they will politely beg for food or obtain it extralegally from you is a totally different question. The key issue is the neighbor who resources you actively participated in destroying will need to sustain himself from you. S. Africa can never be a exception to that reality.

South Africa really contributed to our suffering in many ways. The lootings that happened way back involved some big shots who were in power. Zimbabwe has NO CRISIS comments were meant to safeguard one’s interests with our blood. Platinum and Cement mines were partly or fully owned by one man….rsa. All our clinker produce transported as raw material to RSA for processing to cement and re-packed and brought back to Zim for sale at exorbitant prices of around R300 those years back…..2009. Reap what you sow
