Tsvangirai defies Zanu PF ‘barbarism’

MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai yesterday defied Zanu PF violence and drove through barricades set on his way as he toured Mabvuku high-density suburb to assess the state of council’ service delivery.

The ruling party youths had mounted a “roadblock” at the Mabvuku turn-off along the Harare-Mutare highway to bar Tsvangirai from entering the populous suburb.

When the opposition leader breached the barricade, some of the Zanu PF youths followed him in their own cars, one of them carrying a Zanu PF logo, before violence broke out, leaving two MDC-T officials injured.

Tsvangirai, who was accompanied by Harare deputy mayor Thomas Muzuva and several other MDC-T councillors, reported the matter to the police and vowed not to be intimidated by rogue Zanu PF elements.

“The MDC controls Harare City Council and it is within my rights to assess how far the council controlled by the party I lead is delivering services to the people,” Tsvangirai told police in Mabvuku.

During his tour, Tsvangirai was taken to several boreholes sunk by the local authority and vending stalls at Kamunhu shopping centre and later visited the Tonderai Ndira housing co-operative stands in the area.

Addressing journalists after the tour, Tsvangirai said it was unfortunate that Zanu PF was abusing unemployed youths to engage in violence instead of generating employment opportunities for them.

Mabvuku has had no running water for years, courtesy of ZANU policies.
At least the MDC seems to think the people deserve better and has come to their rescue.
These ZANU so-called youths, who are nothing but “rent-a-mob” morons, know, in their midget brains, that the MDC is the real deal and are running scared.
