War veterans yesterday said they were “fed up” with Zanu-PF secretary-for administration Cde Didymus Mutasa and Politburo members Cdes Dzikamai Mavhaire, Nicholas Goche and Kudakwashe Bhasikiti because of their pursuit to remove President Mugabe. This came as businesspersons and companies said to be funding Vice President Mujuru’s bid to oust the President were warned to stick to their core business of creating wealth for the country and defending the national interest.

In their resolutions after a two-day elective congress read by newly-elected chairman Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa at Great Zimbabwe yesterday, the war veterans said Cdes Mutasa, Goche, Mavhaire and Bhasikiti must repent or be axed.

“All these people have no history of the war, but were taking centre stage muchinhu chatakazvara isu,” he said.

“Chancers from nowhere have come to the centre stage.”

The war veterans said it was time to cleanse Zanu-PF of pretenders and counter revolutionaries.

“Vanogona kuripenda ngavadzokere kumusangano. Vanodzoka vangoriwo macomrades. Pavakangavari pombopindawo vakasiyana-siyana,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

Analysts castigated businesspersons and some companies for funding VP Mujuru’s ambitions.

Zanu-PF Mashonaland East provincial chair Cde Ray Kaukonde, Kingdom Bank founder Mr Nigel Chanakira, together with other companies, have been fingered as the chief financiers of the scheme.

Cde Mutsvangwa said businesspersons should leave politics to politicians.

“As such we will also leave wealth creation to businesses,” he said. “Let us respect each other’s domains. We are asking post-colonial national businesses to abandon their support of nefarious and greed puppet elements recklessly and foolishly promising regime change and the physical elimination of the President.”
