OUSTED Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chairman and Zaka East MP Paradzai Chakona faces arrest after fellow party members filed charges against him on allegations of looting party donations and resources, a party official said.

Zanu PF provincial spokesperson Ndava said this while addressing journalists on Sunday.

He said Chakona’s fate both in the party and parliament will be determined on the basis of police investigations.

Acting Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Kudakwashe Dhewa could neither deny nor confirm the development when contacted for comment.

Insiders said Chakona’s ouster was as a result of a $16, 000 donation he sourced from a sugar milling giant Tongat hullets on behalf of Masvingo’s 26 MPs.

The money was sourced under the guise to procure fuel for “parliamentary extended trips” but Chakona allegedly converted the funds to his own use.

Insiders said Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda once wrote to Chakona ordering him to return the money as government business is not run on donations sourced from individuals.

“Chakona was ousted after reports reached the party that he was diverting Zanu PF resources to his own personal use.

“We are just waiting for police to finish their investigations before any disciplinary action is taken against the member,” Ndava said.

He also accused Chakona of fanning factionalism and having close ties with the so called G40 group which is reportedly rallying behind the First Lady Grace Mugabe against the VP Emmerson Munangagwa.

Ndava said the party’s provincial secretary for administration Ezra Chadzamira has been elevated to the position of provincial Chairman tasked to ensure Masvingo province remained a Zanu PF stronghold and president Robert Mugabe wins the 2018 elections.
