ZimPF invades Zanu PF terror base

ZIMBABWE People First (ZimPF) on Saturday defied odds and held its rally at a site previously known as a Zanu PF terror base at Zoma business centre in Gutu West.

The rally was organised by former Zanu PF politburo member, Dzikamai Mavhaire, now ZimPF national co-ordinator.
Addressing more than 100 ZimPF supporters, Mavhaire said the violence that was perpetrated by his former party on the opposition was against the ideals of the liberation struggle.

“We went to war for a one-man one-vote system and not so that people can vote for (President Robert) Mugabe only,” he said.

“Those who want to vote for (MDC-T president) Morgan Tsvangirai, should do so in peace. We are also putting forward our candidate (Joice) Mujuru because we believe she is the best.”

War veteran, Frank Badza, who used to co-ordinate Zanu PF’s terror campaigns in the area before he defected to ZimPF, said they deliberately chose Zoma business centre in order to break the culture of fear that had permeated throughout the community.

“This was the heart of terror for Masvingo, where opposition activists were not even allowed. We had never seen T-shirts of opposition supporters in this area before, but we are now breaking that barrier and challenging the culture of Zanu PF violence,” he said.

Badza claimed war veterans had allowed themselves to be used to rig previous elections on behalf of Zanu PF.

Aspiring ZimPF Gutu West parliamentary candidate, Tichaona Sithole urged party members to be vigilant and resist Zanu PF’s bullying tactics ahead of the 2018 elections.
