China has reiterated its commitment to assist financially within the purview of the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation. In a meeting with Vice President Joice Mujuru in Harare yesterday, China’s Vice President Dr Li Yuanchao said Beijing wanted to see Zimbabwe prosper.

Dr Li met VP Mujuru during a stopover at the Harare International Airport en-route to Zambia for a four-day State visit.
At the airport he met VP Mujuru, Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Minister of State for Harare Province Miriam Chikukwa and Minister of State in the VP’s Office Sylvester Nguni.

An initial funding commitment for Zim-Asset was made by China’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Lin Lin last month when he said discussions for a financial package were underway.

“We are very proud to see your achievements and we will do our best for you to realise this feat,” said Dr Li.
“Our two countries enjoy very good relations, especially in terms of economic co-operation.”

Dr Li, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, informed VP Mujuru that Beijing was preparing for President Mugabe’s visit to China later this year.

He described Zimbabwe as one of China’s best friends, adding that the CPC and Zanu-PF had a long-standing relationship dating back to the days of the liberation struggle.

Dr Li, who is leading a 21-member delegation including senior Chinese government CPC officials, said Zimbabwe was making strides on the economic front and Beijing was ready to assist in the area of training.

VP Mujuru said Zimbabwe was ready to work with China in implementing Zim-Asset.
“There is a lot that we feel China can also try to look at and work with us so that this blueprint becomes a reality because it is a programme that the generality of this country is looking forward to,” she said.

“For years since independence, we have been failing to deliver fully . . . yes we got the land, but the land has not given the full results which the Head of State and our party and his people are waiting to see.”

VP Mujuru said Zimbabwe appreciated China’s support during and after the liberation struggle.
After a brief closed session with her Chinese counterpart, VP Mujuru said Dr Li told him that a senior official would visit Zimbabwe in July.

She said detailed discussions would be held with the official pertaining to Zim-Asset funding, among other issues.

When you look at the globe as a chess board, Zimbabwe is just a pawn in the big game. Our self important leaders think that they are getting favors from big old China, yet we will be thrown to the dogs if their ‘involvement in Zimbabwe’ threatens the multi billion dollar trade with the USA, never mind the trade with the EU! This deal will take place only if conditions are met, and at the agreement of all the players! Zimbabwe has no say!

Hah! Zimbabwe does not even warrant the status of a pawn…it is a mere speck of dust on the chess board!

China will only bank roll the debt if Zimbabwe mortgages their mineral wealth for 5 percent of its worth. Pathetic.

these Chinese people r just playing abt our minds, think everyone iz now accepts that Zimbabwe was better of with the West,,the Chineese seem to be coming closer becoz they realise that, the West, has started to engage Zimbabwe,,&are afraid of losing out ,l dont think China cares abt the people of Zimbabwe, the are only there to push their secrete agendas,,,.lets all rise &say no to Communism versus Capitalism war on our land,,Zimbabwe must not be a ground where superpowers can use to settle old scores while the majority of the citizens are suffering,, look at what America,,,Russia madness did to Cuba,,this must not be allowed in our land,,.Another thing mortgaging our resources to China iz lyk selling our nation ,if thus the way China wants it ,lets wait &weigh other options, its better to change our indigenisation &lure back DFI ,swallow our pride &go for policies that will benefit us in the long run ruther than selling our birth so cheap ,,otherwize Zim wil be indepted to China for ever &our children will for generations be indepted and oppressed by these Chinese

We have the solution to our problems – ZIMBABWEANS, in the diaspora and in Zimbabwe….the problem is that those people who have the solutions are not ZANU PF people – they are not even political people at all. SO this bunch of so called politicians would rather mortgage our country than look to us, the citizens, for help. As I once heard in a Council meeting in our area when “EYES FOR ZIMBABWE” were performing free cataract operations but it was not the idea of a ZANU politico…he said :”WE WOULD RATHER BE BLIND UNDER ZANU(PF) THAN BE GIVEN SIGHT BY MDC” = OK fine then – now you are blind….get over it. Get dark glasses and stumble around…because THAT IS WHAT YOU DESERVE YOU FOOLS.

Next time Chinese Vice President Dr Li Yuanchao will be using a direct flight to Zambia to avoid being accousted by the beggers at Harare Airport.

Surely being waylaid in transit can’t be fun and I think the Chinese VP was just being polite but in private he must have used a few choice words to describe Joyce and her band of Beggers.

Only last week Joyce said we fought the war with nothing, no cars no nothing…and we don’t need anything or anyone to achieve ZIMASSET. It will take 40 years … blah blah blah!!
Before the week is out she is waylaying the Chinese asking for money.
    confused cockroach or what?
