Brian James letter to Tsvangirai

Date: Sat, 7 Jun 2014 15:20:43 +0200

The President
Movement for Democratic Change.

 Sir,

I refer to a letter addressed to me from the Hon Dr T Mashakada, dated 29th April 2014 and presented to me on Friday 30th May 2014 while on the stand in Court “B” Government Magistrates Courts Mutare, testifying in a case where I reported a breaking and entering incident.

Mr Mashakada does not refer of me in any official capacity, as I have not in this letter. This being due to the confusion about legitimacy of various National Council Meetings earlier this year and the fact that he refers to himself as the Acting Secretary General in the letter but has signed the letter off as the Secretary General!

The content of the letter would however assume I still hold office and membership of the Movement of Democratic Change T and as such would like to, for the avoidance of all doubt, tender my resignation from the party (Movement of Democratic Change T) and therefore from the position of Provincial Treasurer.

My reasons for this resignation are many and varied but suffice it to include my dismay at conduct carried out by members in Manicaland, with support in the National Standing Committee, that are contrary to the Party’s founding principles. It has become increasingly difficult for me to defend the Party in private and public forums while witnessing violence, corruption and criminal activity and the inaction of the National Leadership of containing this activity. These concerns have dated back to my suspension and tenure as Mayor of Mutare, the Party primary elections and the distribution of party regalia and the the general conduct of the MDC election campaign 2013.

I have given ten years of my time to further the founding principles of the Movement for Democratic Change and have witnessed the sacrifices of so many loyal supporters over these years only to see their efforts betrayed by careless and unnecessary actions of some members who seem to find it difficult to distance themselves from and engage in the most heinous crimes that are more associated with the very people that we were hoping to dislodge in the political arena here in Zimbabwe!

As such Sir, I wish you luck in your endeavors and wish to say that any property that I am supposedly holding I would immediately hand over if proper ownership can be ascertained.

I remain Sir, loyal to the cause of Transparency and accountability, freedom of speech and association.

 Brian James
Former Provincial Treasurer
Manicaland.

Though the majority are still with MT, he, MT shud not ignore some of the reasons given coz there are elements of truths in them. Electorate is reading and analysing.

Does this not vindicate Biti et al? Mind Boggles quote couldn’t be any clearer.

The truth is, no matter how much we lIke Tsvangirai, regardless of how brave he is, he has fallen short where it matters most. He is not capable of leading the cross-over.

But forming a party is a problem again because we are no longer trusting the same guys. We are in a situation where we form parties and doing nothing at all. Biti is also a failure as Tsvangirai
