I don’t know why I have lived this long: Mugabe

via I don’t know why I have lived this long: Mugabe | Nehanda Radio January 21, 2014 By Mgcini Dlamini

President Robert Mugabe says people should stop questioning why he is alive because it is God’s plan.

Addressing mourners gathered at his rural home in Zvimba for the burial of his last sibling Bridget Mugabe, who passed away on Sunday, the 89 year old leader said he had no answer to the longevity of his life.

“Bridget is gone, not because we could not take care of her but because her time was up. People should therefore not question why I am still alive when all others are going. I don’t know why I have lived this long while all others are gone, it is God’s plan,” Mugabe told mourners.

There have been reports over the past week that Mugabe is bed ridden or dead, but his first public appearance in 2014 after his sister’s death put paid on the rumours.

Mugabe’s health has spawned endless speculation among Zimbabweans.

Rumours sparked by his recent absence from the spotlight have been swirling around Harare in the past two weeks, some suggesting that the veteran leader was seriously ill and others even suggesting he had died.

Bridget, who was admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital since 2010 after collapsing during the burial of her elder sister, Sabina at the National Heroes’ Acre in Harare, died of heart failure.

The president’s only surviving sibling suffered from breathing complications.

She was on life support for the past three until the time of her death.

Mugabe revealed to the mourners that he was more British than British citizens.

“I am very British you know, that is, I even measure distance in my miles. It is easy because the ratio is 5 miles to 8 km, so for that ndinomboti pamberi nemaBritish,” the president said.

Mugabe described his sister as an intelligent and strong person who was not afraid to even take on men in physical fights.

The President went on further narrating how Bridget was tortured by the settler regime and he castigated the use of force to coerce people to follow one’s political view.

The mother and grandmother, who died at the age of 79, was reportedly tortured by Rhodesians for at least a month.

The late Bridget, who was a trained science teacher, was actively involved in the liberation struggle. She is said to have even assisted the seven heroes who fought in the first Chimurenga battle in 1966.

“Bridget was too academic as opposed to her sister Sabina who was practical. She depended on me for survival and I stayed with her at State House as she could not purchase her own place. That is why we have included the psychomotor element in our education because we don’t want hollow education. We want a kind that equips learners with skill to be self-sufficient,” Mugabe said.

He said his father abandoned them when he was 11 years old.

“I even wrote him a letter expressing my unhappiness about how he had left us alone. My uncles later reprimanded me saying I was being disrespectful. I was forced to apologise. He came back in 1944 while I was teaching in Matabeleland but I never managed to see him.

“When I came back, he had died but had left me another burden because he had brought with him his new in-laws’. Now that I was now the eldest, I had to take care of them all but I was only 21,” the president said.

“I don’t know why I have lived this long”. Simple answer really, mugabe has used other peoples money to stay alive. It’s got nothing to do with divine intervention. But, time has run out thank goodness.

You were my idol. The one who would easily have outdone Mandela.

But alas, you are a disappointment. If only you had left power in 1985 or even 1990! You would have given us a platform to deliver a lovely Zimbabwe. Now, due to overstay, you no longer in control. Corruption within your home and all over govt and parastatals had decimated the country. Why we went into Congo to return with this scarge only god knows.

Frankly, if you were to end up dead today, many would celebrate. This country did not need a “leader” of your mould. It’s a real tragedy to have you there, especially after 1985 / 1990

ZPF are still using force to coerce people into following ZPF. He may be ailing and old but many Zimbabweans are not and we know these things. The most decent think he could do for his nation now is to step down and appoint even a half decent successor. Truly we are enough! I am truly sorry for the loss of his sister and offer the family my condolences but at least she died in comfort and with good medical care not tortured to death or starved to death. I dislike the headlines in two of the papers this morning. It is sad that Uncle Bob had a painful history but this background should have given him a heart for his people. It did not. I also had a painful background and, by the grace of God, have come through with a softer heart. What about the deep suffering of millions of Zimbabweans? e

Well said words from the president , his words are so much motivating . I thought he is gone and no more , the question of his disappearing from the public is answered .Mugabe was supposed to be as good as he talks , a very wise old man , a very powerful and educated man in the world , to me not to you he is number one and followed by Obama of USA , its a shame that he loves money so much and went hungry for power and ended up destroying his status , he can die today but his brilliance will never be replaced . God help Mugabe , he was misled by his party and it is unfortunately that he will never be honoured accordingly , after death he will not be respected as it happened to Mandela . God help this old , he used to be my mentor .

God is giving you a chance to repent before he calls you but stubborn as you are you never accept anything. However the loving Lord with infinite love will always sherperd you.

Your story is reminisent to Gukurahundi victims whom you forced into parenthood before adulthood however yours is much lighter as it simple explains how careless your father was hence your cruel DNA.

Jongwe, Chiminya and many others left behind children whom we know not who is taking care of and their age. If their stories were to be publicised, there are more people who faced and some still face worse than we thought only because of your stone heart.

Let me hasten to say the tone behind your voice tells how despondent you are. You are not even sure we will be with you in the evening meals. This is typical talk of village elders. I salute you for realising that “mibiri aichavhumi.”

The reason that MUGABE has lived so long is because the Devil is terrified of a takeover bid in hell! Even the Devil does not want him, he has enough problems with Hitler, Idi Amin, Bokassa, Stalin and recently Gaddaffi. He surely does not want another joining the motley crew, they are probably running out of room in the “VIP” fire.

I truly wonder though, if the combined effects of being unpopular at school, losing his father at a young age, losing Michael (brother), losing Michael (son), and being put in jail (that could explain his homophobia) for so long have destabilised his mind?

He is clearly intelligent but is also a total megalomaniac with psychopathic tendencies. He doesn’t really seem to value human life at all, or even feel guilty about past actions! I wonder if anyone has ever done a psychiatric assessment based upon his actions….

He is an asshhole and an idot. There is nothing exceptional about him losing his siblings or being abandoned by a father. This is common in many African families.

President Jacob Zuma does not even know his father, whom he lost when he was about five. He took up a job as a gardner in Durban at a very young age, to help fend for his family. There were no missionaries to help him, so he never went to school.

He spent ten years on Robben Island; out there in the sea, surrounded by shalks and all sort of evil underwater creatures – one simply couldnt escape.

Robert Mugabe set comfortably at Chikurubi, and proceeded with his education. Besides, he only took over responsibility over the family at a ripe age of 21; many African children do this at the age of nine or ten; especially these days of HIV/AIDS.

Depite all the suffering, Jacob Zuma is a convivial and jovial man; easy going and to engage. He is not as angry as Gukurahundi Mugabe always is.

Zuma never gukurahundied his fellow African citizens for holding different political views from him or for being of a different tribe and language to his. Instead he was a peacemaker, who worked hard and brought peace to KwaZulu Natal between the IFP and the ANC.

Gukurahundi Mugabe should stop the excuses. He is simply an evil devilish two-legged creature ever to walk on planet earth. He should simply die and go to hell a million times. Satanic evil devil. The Biblical name GABRIEL has real been desecrated by this 90 year old evil dark skinned creature!!

@Mthwakazi. You make a valid point my friend. His actions have, in effect, caused countless other families to become victims of similar, and in many cases worse, circumstances than his own.

And you are right, he is always very angry. He seems to hate everyone!

I hope Zuma will make an effort to help us.

With the anger simmering in your hearts guys towards Mugabe, you are all heading the same direction – eternal death. If you can’t forgive your brother, your Father in heaven will not forgive you. Gukurahundi and the unforgiving spirit are both heinous sins before the righteous God. Food for thought!!!!

They will have to pay a heavy price for their evil father’s sins. If my people are paying a heavy price for the 1890s tribal wars, which they never participated in, why should these little gukurahundis get away – hell no.

They still have a long life ahead of them. We will meet one day; I will hunt them down, especially outside the borders of Zimbabwe!!

Surely, Lord is a tittle just like Pastor, Bishop, Cardinal, Mr. Professor, Doctor etc. Some people treasure their titles and that they do so does not mean they consider themselves more than others. They most probably consider the title deserved and prefer to be addressed by that title. To insinuate otherwise maybe to stretch it a bit.

Mthwakazi I admire the fighting spirit that you have. You take after your President Mugabe. I can feel the pain that you have and rightly so, but for health’s sake forgive the old man. But that doesn’t exonerate him from facing the music when time comes. Please let the Chatungas alone. What crime have they committed? Instead of the innocent children the culprits who committed the heinous crimes are still around. The law will take its course when time comes. Hope to meet you some day.

Question is not about how long Cde Mugabe has lived, but about how long he has been at the helm and how much damage he has dealt on our economy in the past 34 years of his rule. Just retire Cde President and enjoy your old age in peace. After all you have Joice Mujuru to continue with the mess.
