‘Following the rot’ – Zimbabwe Vigil Diary: 28th June 2014

via ‘Following the rot’ – Zimbabwe Vigil Diary 29 June 2014 by Administrator

Extroverts in tight dresses and bouffant wigs tottering along the Strand in high heels: it was Gay Pride Day in London  and we at the Vigil had a grandstand view of the mad parade.

Mugabe would have loved it. He is so taken with gays that we could imagine him tottering along the Strand after them. A mad fancy? No madder than what is happening in Zimbabwe.

Take the mad case of the ‘Mujuru flies’. Secretary-General of the Progressive Teachers’ Union Raymond Majongwe went to see for himself the plight of the 3,000 families displaced by the Tokwe-Mukosi floods five months ago. These desperate people have to share 36 latrines. Majongwe reports: ‘There are large flies called Mai Mujuru flies which are ravaging the area’. He said he didn’t know why they were named after Mujuru but insisted ‘it’s a fact that there are flies referred to by that name that are following the rot’ (see: STIs, ‘Mujuru flies’ rock Tk Mukosi camp – https://www.zimbabwesituation.com/news/zimsit_m_stis-mujuru-flies-rock-tk-mukosi-camp/).

Following the rot might lead to the mad case of the Sunday Mail editor Edmund Kudzayi, locked up pending trial over the Baba Jukwa revelations. The Vigil trusts that the flies in his cell are not as intimidating as Mai Mujuru. It is certainly not what he bargained for when he left his comfortable life ripping off the UK taxpayer to work for Zanu PF in Harare. Vigil supporter Dr Clifford Mashiri says Kudzayi – if he survives the flies – could face even bigger problems with the US.

(For his article on the matter see our campaigns page: http://www.zimvigil.co.uk/vigil-news/campaign-news/597-could-edmund-kudzayi-end-up-being-indicted-in-the-united-states.)

The Vigil thinks the Sunday Mail editor – 28 years old and with no training in journalism – might have been better advised to keep to the mad fatuities of the Herald, which reports that the government has launched an investigation into why domestic products are more expensive than imported ones. A team of  Zanu PF officials is to travel abroad to find out why. Could it all be a mad gay plot? (Govt looks into firms’ pricing models – https://www.zimbabwesituation.com/news/zimsit_w_govt-looks-into-firms-pricing-models-the-herald/).
