Chinotimba praised by Daily News newspaper

via Chinotimba praised by Daily News newspaper | SW Radio Africa 28 July  2014 by Tererai Karimakwenda

The independent Daily News newspaper has named the notorious leader of farm invasions, Joseph Chinotimba, as legislator of the month, in an inaugural monthly column that will praise members of parliament for their contribution in the house.

The paper outlined some of Chinotimba’s recent exploits in parliament, including a near fistfight last week, but failed to mention his murderous past when he led gangs of violent war vets to take over commercial farms around the country.

Now MP for Buhera South, Chinotimba has re-invented himself from a security guard for the Harare Council and turned into an outspoken politician. The Daily News described the self-styled leader as “a brawler and a fighter, not highly educated, uncouth but very intelligent”.

They pointed to his criticism of the Independent Media Panel of Inquiry (Impi), created by Information Minister Jonathan Moyo at a budget of $1.6 million. Chinoz, as he became known during land invasions, questioned the allowances of $300 per day being given to Impi panellists and its specific mission.

The paper also praised him for questioning the water authority Zinwa and its billing structures, as well as other issues on which Chinotimba has spoken out in parliament, on behalf of his constituents.

But the murderous trail left behind by the MP during his early days, when he became known for wearing a straw hat, was not mentioned in the nomination.

John Worsley Worswick of Justice for Agriculture criticised the Daily News for praising Chinotimba, saying the so-called land reform programme was fraught with violence and human rights abuses and it is important to prosecute the perpetrators in order to facilitate the healing process.

“We have had a number of rulings in the UK asylum courts, that incidents during the so-called land reform were crimes against humanity. These were led by people like Chinotimba and there is no statute of limitations on that sort of crime. There is no way we can sweep this under the carpet,” Worswick told SW Radio Africa.

He added: “It was totally criminal and Chinotimba was at the forefront of that criminality and that violence, perpetrating it all the way. I think the general population of this country were horrified when he ran for office and worse when he won.”

It is important to remember that Chinoz is the same man who led gangs of violent war vets and ZANU PF youth militia that used rape and torture as a political weapon, especially when he ran for office in his native Buhera in the 2008 elections.

Eyewitnesses alleged that Chinotimba, in the company of his cousin, raped MDC-T member Idah Munyukwi twice after threatening her with a gun. He had been looking for her husband, an MDC-T activist who was not home.

Memory Mufambi, another MDC-T member in Buhera, was gang raped by 21 ZANU PF thugs allegedly under Chinotimba’s instruction. Also in 2008, an MDC-T member known as Sibamba was murdered by a gang led by Chinotimba. His truck was also used during many violent incidents.

The violent war vet now lives in luxury with security guards posted to protect him, after “winning” the Buhera seat in the disputed 2013 elections.

In my book this man is a murderer and a crook. What he done in the past cannot just be swept aside. He was instrumental in the deaths of several people. Intelligent ? Imbecile at the best.

In all revolutions undertaken by mankind there have never been violent free. The Christian revolution brought massive persecutions of christians . The land revolution in Zimbabwe could not have succeeded if the likes of Chinotimbas did not prosecuted in the manner they did. Tough lucky for those who were on the receiving end.

Maipisi that is one of the most ridiculous irresponsible dumb statements I’ve ever hear. The Government had it in it’s power to confiscate land from who it wanted. They had a clear Majority and could of made whatever laws they wanted. They chose to allow people like Chinotimba to Murder and steal, and in the process make 200 000 people jobless and homeless. This was no revolution. This was a man made disaster. And as with all disasters the aftermath is devastating. For you to say tough luck you have to be one of the murderers. If you are you turn is coming.

Chinotimba is a hero of Zimbabwe’s Third Chimurenga and no amount of vilification can change that. Chinotimba’s heroism should not be confused with the so called hero status bestowed on mass murderers such as Jan Smutts of South Africa and all those who commanded the masacre of millions of Africans during the colonisation of the continent. By the way, when land was exproppriated from the Africans in 1890, how many people were killed and by who? It is a shame that sons of those murderers have the nurve to stand up and condemn Chinotimba. And what of the murderers resting in argony in Arlington Cemetary in Viginia in the United States of America, most of whom died as State Presidents of that country? This means they ran for Office, were elected to the Senate and then went on to become presidents of the United States!!! Did we ever hear those people being condemned for murder, not a chance!!!!! Compared to the so called heroes of these murderous people, Chinotimba is a SAINT and those who tried to resist land reform died as fools who failled to recognise that a revolution cannot be stopped by the use of a pistol!!!!!

Oh Naison….your argument is pathetic….That One did this hei’nous deed over there (many years hence) and he is a hero so this one is a saint compared to that. All these humans you talk of used uncivilized methods to get what they wanted….what Chinotimba did was not only against the law of any “civilised” country (in the Year 2000+) it has also resulted in the suffering of thousands and the theft of a future for a million young black Zimbabweans who now face no job, no education, no hope. Thanks Chino – WHAT A HERO!

The attacks on Chinoz are justified, but this is the wrong place for them. Blame the system that didn’t prosecute him.

Daily news is read by all walks of life. Some of its readers were toddlers when the farm invasions happened. It’s not the Daily News’ place to open those wounds when the story they are running doesn’t concern them. They owe it to their readers (some of them far removed from farm invasions), to nominate any MP of the day on merit.

I’m sorry but that is an idiotic statement. It’s dishonest and an insult to the dead to ignore the historical context of events. If Chinos had not led violent farm invasions he wouldn’t have been rewarded with a parliamentary seat. He would still be a lowly mahobho. His past is directly responsible for his present. Never mind that those people he murdered and dispossessed have never seen justice. If Hitler had survived WW2 and ended up as a politician would you say his past misdeeds are irrelevant and we must only enjoy his gifts as a great orator?

Dzenyika Chinotimba is part and parcel of the system. Those that were not born must be told what he is. When they see these comments they can go back into our archives of history and see what he done. Even what he says in Parliament is nonsensical. How would the DRC charge us for water they can not control in any case. How would he open factories when he was instrumental in closing them in the first place? The Daily news is short of news. In my book he is a paper MP because I do not believe he even won. I refuse to believe that my fellow countrymen are that stupid.

Laws and rules for compensation and reclamation had been put in place by the same government. They were never followed. Two wrongs can not make it right. List we forget that money supplied by donors for land redistribution was misused and abused.
Corruption and greed in Zanu is the root of the Zimbabwean problems.

Wish I could understand what you are trying to say and suggest you actually read that history book properly. Colonialism was wrong, yes we know that, it was not all bad though as evidenced by the state of Rhodesia in 1980. Slave trade was bad but is still in existence, where? In Africa! One factor you have failed to look at, in the late 1980’s (not centuries ago, almost one!) the peoneers came to the kingdom of the Matabele and negociated with Lobengula, the king for land. He traded for it and probably gave away the land of the Shona (whom he was exterminating). The pioneers started to farm and mine the land with great difficulty. They succeeded and did so to such an extent that the Shona thirved and multiplied (nothing like the Red Indian in the America’s). One might argue that if Rhodes did not come along when he did the Shone probably would not exist and the likes of Mugabe never born and never educated!

Mwanawevhu you seem to have forgotten that their were as many, if not more, blacks involved in the slave Trade (selling their own people)as whites. And that the Slave Trade goes on today….exploitation of the weak by the strong will be with us as long as their are humans on this planet. So get over the “poor good little black and wicked, wicked nasty white syndrome” will you? PEOPLE exploit people….and Chinotimba exploits, murders and worse.

mwanawevhu The Whites that done that are long dead and gone. How can you blame the younger generation for the sins of their Grandfathers? Chinotimba the murderer and Mugabe the mass killer of people in Matabeleland are still alive. That is an equally irresponsible statement . That is why people with your mind set, set this country back a thousand years because you use history to justify your crimes. Would you jail someone because his Late Grandfather stole from you. That is the height of stupidity.

mwanawevhu What about Chinotimba leading the invasions that killed other black people on the farms?

“The land revolution in Zimbabwe could not have succeeded if the likes of Chinotimbas did not prosecuted in the manner they did.”

Do you know what the word succeed means? All they succeeded in doing was turn us into a nation of beggars. Also if Mugabe’s genocide would have continued as long as the bush war we had he would have murdered a lot more than lost their lives in the war. They were also unarmed. Don’t try to tell us about history. Mugabe’s is just as bad as Hitler’s and he is still alive.

The reports from China should make some people very scared.

China’s former security chief Zhou Yongkang is being investigated for suspected “serious disciplinary violation”, state media say.

The news confirms rumours about the hugely powerful former minister, who has not been seen in public for months.
The move to target him will send shockwaves through the political elite
He is the most senior Chinese official to be investigated since the Gang of Four – which included the wife of late leader Mao Zedong – in the early 1980s.
Zhou Yongkang retired in late 2012, as Xi Jinping took over from Hu Jintao as the Communist Party leader and China’s president.
Since the transition, Mr Xi has introduced a wide-ranging crackdown on corruption within the party, warning graft could threaten the organisation’s very survival.
    Bo Xilai ally
In a brief statement, state-run Xinhua news agency said the investigation would be conducted by the Communist Party’s corruption watchdog, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Justice will be served. It is only a matter of time.

Yes Dube it’s happening isn’t it. The below should also make some people very worried. I am sure Mugabe will not see a court room for obvious reasons. That does not mean that there will be no justice…

The last two surviving leaders of Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge regime are to begin their second trial in Phnom Penh.

Khieu Samphan, the former head of state, and Nuon Chea, Pol Pot’s deputy, are already on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The second trial includes a charge of genocide related to killings of Vietnamese and Cham Muslim minorities.

The cases are being tried separately to accelerate proceedings, because the defendants are elderly.

A verdict in the first case, meanwhile, is expected on 7 August. Prosecutors are seeking life sentences for the two former leaders.

The Khmer Rouge ruled Cambodia for four years, from 1975 to 1979. Up to two million people are thought to have died of starvation, overwork or by execution under the brutal Maoist regime.

Leader Pol Pot died in 1997 and only one senior official – former prison chief Duch – has been convicted and jailed for crimes committed by the regime.

Injiba I think we can safely say you were not a farm worker who lost his home, job and hope. You are also not a person who cares for the law. You can safely say you are not a person who believes that throwing anybody out of their house with force is wrong. And I would bet you are not somebody who lost every cent of his pension when our dollar collapsed….no Chino is no hero. He is a simple minded destroyer..let him be your hero for you – that would be a bout right for you. Now get off your arse and start rebuilding what YOUR HERO has destroyed – but then again YOU are not a builder either are you?
