Julius Malema’s Economic Freedom Fighters has congratulated President Robert Mugabe on his 90th birthday saying he is a symbol of Africa’s resistance against colonial pressure and a stalwart of all things prosperous for Africa.

Mugabe celebrated his birthday yesterday but he was reported to be in Singapore where he went to have an eye operation.

The EFF also called for the lifting of sanctions on Zimbabwe arguing that the world should note that Africa will never return to oppression and economic freedom is an imminent reality.

Below is the full statement from the EFF:

EFF SALUTES PRESIDENT ROBERT GABRIEL MUGABE ON HIS 90th BIRTHDAY

President RG Mugabe’s birth has been a symbol of Africa’s resistance against colonial pressure. He has remained committed to his people and the sovereignty of their economy. He has withstood against all odds those who have sought to drink the blood of the African people and their birthright.

Since his youth President Mugabe has represented the resilience of a fighter for true political and economic freedom for the people of Africa. He has remained consistent as a leader and a statesman and refused to bow to the temptation of Capital’s seduction and continues in that spirit 90 years later.

We celebrate the birthday of President RG Mugabe as a stalwart of all things prosperous for Africa. On this auspicious occasion EFF wishes to thank the people of Zimbabwe for standing beside their President who represents economic freedom for the people of Africa.

We call for the upliftment of sanctions against Zimbabwe and demand that the world take note that Africa will never return to oppression and Economic Freedom is an imminent reality.

The EFF is financed by Mugabe and his party. Malema is Mugabe’s rabid mutt. You have to be brain dead to not be able to see what that thieving old man has done to his people and country. In terms of Malema that is easy to see. He is a corrupt stupid idiot and anyone who votes for this fool should NEVER be allowed the vote.

Malema salutes Mugabe. Sounds catchy – for the title of a comedy show. It is hard to know which is the bigger caricature (apologies to Tutu) of himself. I think Mugabe should legally adopt Malema as his son and heir. Malema could then sit on Mugabe’s knee like one of those ventriloquist puppets.

Juluis Malema if not checked will be the downfall of South Africa. The authorities in South Africa have a lot on him so they might be able to neutralize him. My only problem as a Zimbabwean I cannot at this moment forgive the South Africans for what they have done to us. Zuma I have no faith in. Why I cry is that we have been cheated by history. If only Mandela had taken over 10 years before he did. If only….
