MDC-T pushes for opposition grand alliance

via Bulawayo24 NEWS | MDC-T pushes for opposition grand alliance by Ndou Paul 04 May 2014

The Tendai Biti led MDC-T leadership renewal faction is courting other political parties including Professor Welshman Ncube’s MDC for a grand coalition.

The faction’s interim national chairperson, Dr Samuel Sipepa Nkomo, yesterday said MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai and his “cronies” would soon lose political significance, with the mergence of a stronger and truly democratic opposition.

The leadership renewal team is breaking away from the Tsvangirai led MDC-T after Tsvangirai ignored their calls to step down and pave the way for a leadership renewal in the party.

“We are talking to all the opposition political parties in the country and these include the MDC led by Professor Ncube, Zapu led by Dumiso Dabengwa, Alliance Khumbula Ekhaya, Federal Zapu and others, with a view of forming a grand coalition” he said.

Dr Nkomo said discussions had been initiated

For “truly democratic parties” to form a formidable opposition capable of breaking Zanu-PF’s stranglehold on power in 2018.

Zanu-PF has been ruling the country since independence 34 years ago in 1980.

Dr Nkomo said: “If we don’t become a big force, if we remain disunited we won’t make it. We need a grand alliance and that will improve our chances in politics.”

Prof Ncube has been canvassing for a coalition since he started appearing in public, after his crushing election defeat in last year’s harmonized elections.

He said Biti’s renewal team, just like his party, believed in collective leadership and non- violence in resolving disputes.

“It is unfortunate that it has taken these members nine years to draw the line. A historical antidote which those of you who were not in MDC in 2005 might find amazing is that many associated with the MDC-T’s renewal team, when battle lines were drawn in 2005 and we were asked where we stood, many of them in terms of ideas, in terms of conviction, in terms of moral persuasion were 100 percent with us,” said Professor Ncube.

He said there was a need for true democrats to recapture the spirit of 1999 when the Movement for Democratic Change was formed, which is now missing.

Biti must stop talking about MT n just join the already started coalition. He must be aware that he is not the initiator, otherwise he has a different motive. Let fellow Zimbos watch the new coalition closely. We have been twisted too long. If organised in good faith it cld be a success. We want a force that talks replacing zpf only n not MT etc

Tendai Biti is already campaigning as Presidential candidate for the 2018 election. He has created a campaign website already, even before the Grand Coalition talks.

How can a coalition of political nonentities form a formidable force? Biti can’t even organise 50 people and Ncube performed dismally failing to win not even one seat! It’s a coalition of political failures and the coalition will be such. Besides I honestly don’t see how this will work considering the two are power hungry. Who will be the leader? Biti or Ncube?

Zimbabweans don’t be fooled by these idiots, they talk abt grand coalition, this is not going to work. These guys might be lawyers but they know nothing abt politics. What they r doing is just going to favour zanu pf in terms of rigging, because zanu pf is going to say they have won because of split vote. This grand coalition is not going get nthing above 10% come 2018. Biti himself knows that this is why he wants to hold on to mdc t, just to confuse people during election. These idiots they don’t have nthing new to offer to the people of Zimbabwe they r just zanu pf agents like nikiev. If Biti has sharp brains as he is saying why didn’t he use them to help people of Zimbabwe to come out the slavery of zanu pf when he was under mdc t. They r only two people who has sharp brains in politics jonathan moyo and munagagwa they have managed to keep mugabe in power even if he lost the election. NOT MBITI, BASA REKUDA KUDYA HOVE DZABATWA NAKONDO.

How can they talk of unity when they broke away from the mainstream party. The renewal team is Biti and Ncube’s plan. Ncube realised hes is loosing it and could not go back to Tsvangirayi like Job Sikhala then planned with Biti to remove Tsvangirai trying to pave way for Ncube. These are political turncoats

We will never accept tribalists and dictators. You can not remove one Shona tribalist and replace him with another. You can not remove one Shona gukurahundi dictator and replace him with another. As long as you dont see reason, we will continue to deal with you thorughly until you say amen – even if it takes a thousand years!!

Grand coalition if LOSERS. Ncube lost dismally in last election and even his family didnt voted for him. This shows to people that these guys want power and money not the interest of people at heart. Lets show them kuti Vanyangira yaona!!!!! Even they come together their votes will b a quarter of Tsvangirais votes. Ncube saw he cant come back to Save thats why he connive with biti and they will realise they are FOOLS when ignored by the masses. Viva Tsvangirai!!!

That violent, tribalistic Gukurahundi ZANU PF So-in-law by the name Tswangirayi should be thoroughly dealt with. We will live no stone unturned to ensure he never sets foot at State House!!

He is a violent, tribalistic gukurahundi ZANU PF SON-IN-LAW.

That alone is enough to prove he can not lead a democratic, nationally united in diversity nation of Zimbabwe.

There is no need to insult other people’s mothers. People like you are the reason there will always be tribalism in this country, tendai kuti our leaders did a horrible thing and be charitable to those that suffered from it. Have you ever taken time to put yourselves in their shoes? Things will never be well in Zimbabwe with people as horrible as you in here. Mwari akati ndinozwa kuchema kwevanhu vangu, if people like you are incapable of apology and restitution for our wrongs as Shona people then tichatambura kuzvika zvanaka nekuti kuchema kwevanhu ava is being avenged by God.
