PRESIDENT Mugabe left the country yesterday for the Democratic Republic of Congo to attend the 17th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa) Summit of Heads of State and Government which begins in Kinshasa today.
He joins 19 other leaders expected to deliberate on issues affecting the development of the African continent.
The summit runs under the theme, “Consolidating Intra-Comesa Trade and Through Micro-Small and Medium Enterprise Development”.

Today’s session runs concurrently with the 7th First Spouses Roundtable meeting. Ministers of Foreign Affairs from member states concluded their deliberations on Monday while integrated committees, Comesa business forum and the council of ministers also met earlier.

Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni chairs the Comesa block whose members include; Zimbabwe, DRC, Zambia, Swaziland, Rwanda, Sudan Seychelles, Mauritius, Malawi, Madagascar, Burundi, Kenya, Libya, Eritria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Djibouti and the Federal Islamic Republic of Comoros.

    What input does HE RG Mugabe put to the development of Africa when he cannot even sort basic stuff in his own country. We have no road, parastatals are rotten, there is massive corruption, no democracy etc and he attends a meeting that advocates for all these things. Grace aendawo here kana asara kuFarm.
