PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe left Harare Wednesday for a ten-day foreign trip that will take him to Singapore, Dubai and Kuwait.

The Zanu PF leader, who turns 90 next February, has often travelled to Singapore for medical attention after undergoing what officials described as a cataract operation in the country in 2011.

The veteran leader denies media speculation that he is battling major health concerns.

He last travelled to the Southeast Asian city state just before the July 31 elections, sparking new speculation over his health.

Officials however said he had only travelled to attend a “routine” medical check-up.

Quipped his election agent and Zanu PF legal secretary, Emmerson Mnangagwa at the time: “He (Mugabe) is fitter than you. He is a careful man. He has gone for a normal medical check-up on his eye.”

Meanwhile, his office said from Singapore, Mugabe will travel to Dubai and then Kuwait where he will join at least 65 world leaders for the third Arab-African summit to be hosted by Kuwait from November 19 to 20.

He is accompanied by wife, Grace, and senior government officials.

The world’s oldest head of state and government who runs Africa’s third most corrupt country travels to Singapore for a “routine” medical check up which costs his impoverished country $3 million dollars per trip. In 33 years he has not produced a single doctor who is good enough to do a routine medical check up. What an indictment; what a legacy. Fortunately for him he has no shame.
