Polarisation A Threat To Zim’s Economic Prosperity – Moyo

via RadioVop Zimbabwe – Polarisation A Threat To Zim’s Economic Prosperity – Moyo 8 March 2014

Jonathan Moyo, says polarisation of the media in Zimbabwe is a threat to the new economic face the country is embarking on.

Addressing journalists from various media institutions in Bulawayo, Professor Moyo said polarisation of public opinion has directly increased the cost of off-shore money.

He said given that politics in a country is measured in the media, the continued portrayal of bickering in Zimbabwe through a polarised media is a sovereign risk.

The minister said due to the polarisation, accessing money is expensive regardless of whether a person is in government or in the private sector.

Professor Moyo said de-polarising public opinion is a responsibility of both the government and the media.

He said the country can not successfully implement the ZIMASSET blueprint with polarisation, saying it is critical to tolerate each other’s political differences.

Is this the same Jonathan Moyo who said he would ‘leave no stone unturned’ in finding the bombers of the Daily News? Is he still looking under stones?

Zimasset is unimplementable and the media has nothing to do with this.

MOYO MUST STAY THE COURSE IF WE ARE TO BE DE POLARISED. If no action is done the politics of our country will ruin us.

Polarization of the country is Mr Mugabe’s legacy. His list of “enemies” is endless: Ndebele, Zapu, ZUM, Margaret Dongo, Mavahire, MDC, whites, commercial farmers, mining companies, totemless from Mbare, British, Americans, Mandela, gays and lesbians, and on and on and on and on. What sort of national leader is he?

The Independent Media must not be hoodwinked by Jonathan Moyo. The pro Zanupf press is the most polarized or the worst instrument of polarization that Zimbabwe has. Just look at how the Chronicle and the Sunday News reported on the miners who died in South Africa. There was so much avoidance of facts in order to deliberately hide the truth from the public to a point where the readership has no picture of what happened. If his own papers are doing all they can to maintain polarization why must others not do like him? Charity begins at home. If the Herald, the Chronicle a

Moyo played a big part in the polarisation exercise. He was busy threatening Daily News and plotting the bombing of their press. What can he tell us today about depolatisation. We tae everything he says with a shovelful of salt!

A few practical steps for Jonso to end the polarization. 1. since he was the No 1 instigator of polarization when he first become minister of information in 2002 let him first fall on his sword and in the interests of the nation ‘please depart’. 2. sell off the herald and all the government print media to private practitioners. 3. since he sits in the politburo advocate for de politicisation of food on the countryside. 4. turn the zbc into a real national institution and accept that its focus should be on exposing zpf because it is the one in power and not focus on MDC. All this is within your power as minister. Any other approach will be seen as insincere.

Talk of a hyena offering to look after your lamb! There is no sincerety in those empty words.

Johnso is a political crook who is always willing to be a Goebbels for the highest bidder. He has no conscience beyond satisfying his master.
He reminds me of Enos Nkala, more so for his crassness and cruelty to those who share a different view to his “own”.

He has always been Mugabe’s replacement for the aged Nathan Shamuyarira, and like poor old Nathan, he has no opinions of his own.

Word on the street says he is going to downgrade from being Mugabe’s Goebels to being Ngwena’s poodle! Shame what a downgrade!
