Torrential rains that hit Masvingo, Midlands and Matabeleland South provinces over the weekend have caused flooding in districts like Gutu, Chivi, Mberengwa, Gwanda and Chiredzi where dams, bridges, crops and homes have been destroyed while many rivers have overflowed.

Many villagers now need urgent assistance, including immediate evacuation to higher ground.

The Civil Protection Unit is said to be in the affected areas assessing the damage and assisting those affected.

Mberengwa West House of Assembly member and Zanu PF parliamentary chief whip Joram Gumbo says it has now become very difficult to access some areas with communication lines also being destroyed.

This will be all the better for ZanuPf to get more supporters as the flood victims will never get food assistance/handouts if they are MDC or abstaining from politics. Talk about the Hutus and the Tutsy’s in Ruwanda, and here we have 20 years of this food monopoly. Everyone there are too weak from hunger to fight the cancerous government.

Where does zanu(pf) and mdc come from? This is a challenge for us all zimbabweans. We wont built it when we are still talking about parties. We cannot change people who always political and who can not change things for better only equipped with negative words about a certain group and a country as a whole. Come on Zimbabwe, do not see polical opportunities in every hardship-noone can control nature. Unity unity unity is the only way. Ngaticheme pamwe kwete kuti tinoda kuona kuti vahaita sei? Vanani? Iwe ndiwe Zimbabwe
