Obama Snubs Zimbabwe’s Mugabe

via US-Africa Summit: Obama Snubs Zimbabwe’s Mugabe by Sandra Nyaira  22.01.2014 VOAZimbabwe

U.S. President Barack Obama has snubbed President Robert Mugabe, inviting leaders of nearly 50 African countries to a landmark US-Africa summit seeking to widen trade, development and security ties between America and Africa.

The United States announced the summit late Tuesday but released a statement Wednesday with the list of Heads of State being invited to the August 5 and 6 meeting.

Assistant Press Secretary Jonathan Lalley says Mr. Obama will include all African Heads of State or governments, with the exception of those who are not in good standing with the U.S. or under African Union suspension.

Egypt, Sudan and Madagascar are the other countries that have not been invited.

Lalley says A.U. chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will also be invited to the meeting, which White House officials say Mr. Obama hopes to use to build on progress made since his June 2013 visit to Africa.

A White House statement said the trip would “advance the administration’s focus on trade and investment in Africa, and highlight America’s commitment to Africa’s security, its democratic development, and its people.”

President Mugabe was invited to a similar meeting in Japan last year when the Asian country set aside its sanctions against Mr. Mugabe allowing him to attend with other African leaders.

The United States maintains sanctions against Mr. Mugabe and close officials citing alleged election rigging, rights abuses and political violence. Harare says the co-called restrictive measures were put in place in retaliation to Mr. Mugabe’s land reforms that saw thousands of white former commercial farmers losing their land.

The summit was announced by Mr. Obama in a speech in Cape Town in June. Analysts say Washington is worried by China’s increasing economic and diplomatic profile in Africa and is upping its game to close a widening gap.

Kenya, whose President Uhuru Kenyatta is currently awaiting a delayed trial at the International Criminal Court on charges related to violence after the country’s violent 2007 election that left 1,000 people dead, has been invited to the U.S.-Africa summit.

The Zimbabwe government was yet to respond to the White House snub. Mr. Mugabe’s spokesman, George Charamba, did not answer his mobile phone., inviting leaders of nearly 50 African countries to a landmark US-Africa summit seeking to widen trade, development and security ties between America and Africa.

Your ignorance speaks volumes. No wonder the mdc-t is in the dog house and will remain there until it vanishes from the Zimbabwean political landscape. There is no such as a mixed races. Your nationality is determined by the house of your fathers. Read Numbers chapter 1, verse 18 in your bible, you idiot and stop promoting your evil diabolical agenda to divide the Zimbabwean people. It won’t work.

Your nationality is determined by the seed of your father. Enough of your Christian lies. Multitudes of Israelites saw Jesus on earth with their own eyes including his disciples and he preached only in the temples where the Jews(short for Judah) always reside. He was seen by the roman heathen governor Pontius pilot and the heathen king Agrippa. Your attempt to remove his nationality has fail and will continue to fail because IT IS A LIE,A BIG LIE.

my brother l would like to differ with you on that, Mugabe lives like a British not an American though there is no big difference. his education which he adopts from British aligned schools accounts to that. My point is not about his lifestyle but on his policies.Mugabe has policies that violated or did not protect the interests of the west in zim hence they sanctioned him . I have always read on media outlets about lies that sanctions in zim are targeted. That is a lie because almost all parastatals in zim at some point were sanctioned with netone included. Mugabe aint jealous at all but he is a ,man who fights for the idle rights of his people. Even his policies support that. The west viewed Mugabe’s stance as a threat to their imperialistic ways hence they have dragged his name into the mud

Why does he use the US dollar when he hates the Americans so much? He is a man that does not know what he is going to say before he opens his mouth. He has given China the countries most vital and viable resources to keep himself in power. Don’t all Zimbabweans see this, are they all blind? Anyone that thinks the Chinese love Africans is deluded. They do not. All they love is what they can take from Africa with, Beads and Mirrors, nothing more and Mugabe is the easiest to corrupt because in essence he cares nothing for the man in the street. When was the last time he walked down a street in Zimbabwe without been surrounded by soldiers. When a president can not do this, in his own country, you know there is a problem.

Nelson Mandela sold his soul to the banksters and hardly any changes have taken place after the demise of Pretoria. President Mugabe is the true lion of Africa for not bending down to kiss the feet of world’s worse violators of human rights and genocidal killers of the West particularly the snake head of rest of the criminal cartel of the West …the American White House regime. Mugabe in reality never gave a hoot to the Westerners even when he was pronounce a “terrorist” by then the Rhodesian criminal Cartel of UK and USA like Nelson Mandela was categorized a terrorist by the USA, UK and their minions. So Robert Mugabe keep the vigil and continue showing your shoes on their faces instead of those sold outs who can’t wait to kiss the feet of these criminal mafia gang of thugs. World knows who has committed crimes against humanity and who is the ring leader of human rights violations. Controlled Media has lost its credibility just the way these self-proclaimed world criminals with blood on their hands of tens of millions of innocent civilians around the globe that goes on daily with the might and the money of USA, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Israel and the dogs of the Gulf States of the Middle East can’t wait to lick the boots of their masters the USA and UK. Mugabe is Africa’s greatest leader and time will prove regardless of today’s trivial demonization by the criminal cabal of the West and their lap dogs.
Zimbabwe is the richest country in Africa with its trillions of dollars of precious metal, diamonds, and other highly sought after natural resources that West salivates just to somehow get its dirty hands on they way they did in last 5 centuries over entire Africa and most of Asia. Asia and Africa are now awake knowing well what their strengths are and what the dirty tricks West has up it’s sleeves for Africans. Africans are fully aware of what is going on. America is broke and in debt to China, India and the Middle East then how in the world USA can possibly provide any kind of financial aid to Africa? Besides, West needs African minerals and natural resources not the other way around. Africa has survived the atrocious and cruel slave trade and centuries of criminal exploitation so a little side show of Obama won’t do any good to any of African countries less they are being fooled by the joker of Corporate American who are making a last ditch effort to con Africans that USA is in some miraculous way would come up with the financial aid for Africa when the USA is totally broke and in debt up to it’s nose and sinking every day more more where USA won’t be able to keep its head above the drowning waters.
Robert Mugabe, you and your brave people of Zimbabwe have withstood the worse crimes against you by the West to black mail you so you can succumbed to the same scenario that Mandela did and failed to punish its centuries old criminals still controlling South Africa with a thin veneer of glossy glaze making it look shiny from outside yet the cancer that that its former colonists have planted is still in full speed killing Africans and African economies. Wake up Africa because we Americans know what criminalities are being perpetrated upon us by the criminal banksters cabal and their lap dog US Congress, the Senate and the token spade Obama!

Why do i get the feeling that this regime has employed people like Eid Malik to write in favor of a failed state
That Mugabe does not care as stated by Nyoni, can be similarly put across that he does not care about Zimvabweans welfare as well.

Nyoni, Mugabe does care about being invited, Globe trotting is the only thing he has ever cared about.
Forget about Obama, if he really cared about Zimbabwean peoples welfare he would have displayed altruistic leadership qualities. The man is almost incapacitated at 90 years old as we speak. Our constitution provides for removing incapacitated individuals, lets see if parliament can do the right thing by invoking the constitutional provision in 2014

The US economy has almost turned the corner – GDP is forcast to grow at 2.8% come 2015, compared to the current 1.9%. We are talking of a 15 trillion dollar economy, compared to China, the second biggest economy at 9 trillion dollars.

The employment figures are up, and this is thanks to Obama, the most powerful leader on planet earth. Not your useless, 90-year old Zwimba gukurahundi thug who presides over an economy that is smaller than that of the city of Durban, with a miniscule 4 billion dollar annual budget he cannot even fund.

Another thing that many don’t consider is that nearly half of the Chinese industry is occupied with U.S. (and, to a lesser extent, European) investments. Effectively, that work force is slave labour to the United States. The People’s Republic will truly be in trouble if the Americans actually start taking care of their debt situation. It would seem the American economy is about to stride forward yet again.

@ Bingo , i understand your point about Mujuru being so unsafe , but i am sure she is aware and ready , in ZANU PF soon it will be a survival of the fittest as the succession battle strongly continues , Mujuru might strike first , she is having huge support and she is a threat to the other faction .

I don’t really mean it that Mujuru must be invited to Obama’s meeting which will cause division to Africa as it is singling out other African head of states , but my mere point is that if Obama was the really Obama who called for a united African state when addressing the world head of states in Mandela’s memorial service , then he is supposed to stick to those words , remember after his address at Mandela’s memorial service he went straight to his worst enemy the president of Cuba and prefered to shake his hand , the word noticed that really Obama was ready to do like Mandela to share a table with his enemies for a way forward as Mandela did . Obama doesn’t care about us as Zimbabweans ,remember Mugabe is an individual he is not Zimbabwe himself as he thinks , Obama must find a way to deal with Mugabe and solve their disputes , if his gathering is about uplifting Africa then it is unfortunately that our beloved nation is not part of this , i totally discredit Obama today , he is no longer my mentor as he has failed to be constructive .

Take into consideration that the United States legislature, and not the president, has the authority to revoke, amend, or abridge the targeted sanctions. Therefore, Obama himself could not extend an invitation even if he wanted to. Further, his snub of President Mugabe is a consequence of the action of re-electing him. The United States wants nothing to do with a Zanu(PF)-governed Zimbabwe. It is their right.

So much for targeted sanctions Mr Obama. You are having a summit where you will be deciding the economic road map between the united states and african countries. I do not think that this is a summit on who is a darling of the west. By snubbing our president, you have inadvertantly snubbed the people of Zimbabwe. In other words, the citizens of Zimbabwe have been snubbed from any economic discussions and potential bi-lateral trade. If this is not economic sanctions on a state, what do you call it? You invite an African Head of state who is facing trail for gross human rights violations, but you will not invite our president who has done nothing more than try and address a historical economic inbalance?

Tell us then that you have not placed the people of Zimbabwe under economic sanctions? Mr Mugabe has many failings, many, many failings, even too many to count. But we are human, and we all have them. If there are personal travel restrictions on an individual, why no allow them to send an attache? Why snub the country? While I agree that the issue of sanctions has been used by ZPF as an excuse for numerous failings (some simply administrative incompetence and corruption), it is apparent that the economic prosperity of the country is not the first thing that is a concern to many of these countries. They just want to send a statement that “if you try and change the status quo, we will cast you aside like a rabid dog and you will wollow in your own filth and poverty”

He is an asshhole and an idot. There is nothing exceptional about him losing his siblings or being abandoned by a father. This is common in many African families.

President Jacob Zuma does not even know his father, whom he lost when he was about five. He took up a job as a gardner in Durban at a very young age, to help fend for his family. There were no missionaries to help him, so he never went to school.

He spent ten years on Robben Island; out there in the sea, surrounded by shalks and all sort of evil underwater creatures – one simply couldnt escape.

Robert Mugabe set comfortably at Chikurubi, and proceeded with his education. Besides, he only took over responsibility over the family at a ripe age of 21; many African children do this at the age of nine or ten; especially these days of HIV/AIDS.

Depite all the suffering, Jacob Zuma is a convivial and jovial man; easy going and to engage. He is not as angry as Gukurahundi Mugabe always is.

Zuma never gukurahundied his fellow African citizens for holding different political views from him or for being of a different tribe and language to his. Instead he was a peacemaker, who worked hard and brought peace to KwaZulu Natal between the IFP and the ANC.

Gukurahundi Mugabe should stop the excuses. He is simply an evil devilish two-legged creature ever to walk on planet earth. He should simply die and go to hell a million times. Satanic evil devil. The Biblical name GABRIEL has real been desecrated by this 90 year old evil dark skinned creature!!

Thats brilliant thinking bhora. Alternatives are more important than completely isolating zimbabawe. Using attaches where the powers that be seem more reasonable and appropriate as at some time in the future engagement will be definitely required and feasible. Only dialogue will work.
The Americans have also shown failure here by inviting kenyata. The man has an equally chequered history when it comes to human rights issues and corruption.

You are an asshoole. Mzansi is NOT like the Gukurahundi Republic. The SAPS are not ZUMA’s police – these are not like your gukurahundi Police, the ZRP. They dont even report to him as is the case in Zimbabwe.

ZRP reports to Mugabe, but with a sepaential relationship with the Home Affairs Minister. Actually Commissioner Chihure even has more power than Kembo Mohadi. These are Mugabe police, doing ZANU PF’s bidding.

SAPS report to the Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa, who in turn reports to the President. They have an internal independent investigation unit, which monitores their activities – something which ZRP does not have.SAPS are made up of all ,mixed races, whites, cloureds, Indians and blacks. Now you want to tell me whites support Zuma, you must be joking!!

Zuma was in Maputo at a SADC conference when the police killed people in Marikana; hence he had to cut short his visit to attend to this unexpected disaster.

You are singing your usual Julius Malema, DA Hellen Zille diatribe against President Zuma, in the hope that he loses elections. Forget it, your Tenders thief Julius is the one who will soon be in the dolldrums. What with the court cases on graft and speeding facing him!!

You may hate me, but I don’t hate you my brother. But condemning Marikana is not automatically glorifying what happened in our own country during the early years of independence. The problem with some like you is that anyone who sees things differently then becomes an ******* as you say. If people like you come to power, dissenting voices will be swiftly silenced. How then do people like you pretend to be different from the Mugabe you hate so much?

You cannot not say Zuma is not in charge of the police, when the police fall under a minister appointed by Zuma. Ultimately the buck stops with Zuma in South Africa, just like the buck stops with Mugabe in Zimbabwe. The moment we say a president is not in charge of his country, we imply that that person has ceased to be president.

Educate me if you think my opinion is misplaced. Calling each other bad names has never built any society. Our kids will read this and wonder what kind of fathers and mothers we have become. Be objective in your argument, and not hate anyone with a different opinion, or those who use different words to say the same thing you are saying.

Actually, the national police commissioner is Riah Phyega who reports to Mthethwa who reports to Zuma, but I do get what you are saying. Also, Helen Zille isn’t a bad political figure I might add. She’s a nice lady.

If we ever have civil war its because of silly , sick ,stupid, sanile, self centred Mugabe.Instead of worrying about trips to the West.He must use his energy to form an enquiry into the massacres of Matebeleland, of which he is a principal architect. We can not ignore the pain of the Ndebele, the trauma they are still undergoing.Only fools who are not in touch with reality ignores. When I was at UZ ,I shared a room with a Ndebele guy.We liked each other so much .One day he looked me in the face and said”When I am home I don’t tell them I stay with a Shona guy” I felt cold to the bone marrow.I thought he hated me.He later on told me how his father, a truck driver was butchered in full view of his wife and children. His crime was that he crosses borders so he was bringing weapons. If we want to move forward, really let us not ignore Mthakwazi.Bring them to the table and ion out differences, first apologise.Church leaders must apologise if the stupid silly man doesn’t want

This Ed Melik is a person who is suffering from his own failures in the USA.Which country in this world has not gone through economic problems in the past? The Chinese economy is just starting to show serious signs of slowing down-who knows how it will be like in a few years time with its huge population. In his article he has left out vital information about the economic improvement done so far by the Obama administration for obvious reasons. He deliberately omits mentioning that China has looted most of our resources to jack its slowing down economy.China may have money now but it wont go far because of its selfish approach to international disasters. They hardly assist countries with disasters like the west, so its money remains in the banks to appear to be very rich. This Melik man is so misguided and shows signs of total hate for the country he lives in–shame on him.Mr Obama, this is an individual your monitoring agent should monitor his activities closely.
Mr.Mandela was a man of peace who preached the spirit of reconciliation NOT your barbarism imported from the worst organisations we know throughout the world.Who are you to speak on our behalf when you are sitting in comfort in the USA?

What has he done for Africa all these years he has been in power! He is just competing with the short and Chinese guys who have taken Africa by a storm. Obama’s masters know that Bob won’t stomach nonsense. They well know he sees through their schemes. Solution: don’t invite the intelligent old man.

What has Africa done for itself, besides creating dictators; destroying infrastructure and laying to waste whatever the former colonialists built?

You are always crying about the west/Obama – why is it the Asian nations dont shout time and again against the west, despite some of them having been colonised?

Look at Japan, wasnt it nuked by the Americans? Look at South Korea and its Sumsungs and Hyndais etc; Look at India – they were colonised by the British – but they now produce and export TATA Vehicles; they are a nuclear power and are into space research – what about Africa?

Asians have gotten their hands dirty and created wonders out of their nations. They are not cry-babies like Africans.

Do you know that much of Africa, especially Central Africa has no Railways system whatsoever? How many years have these people been governing themselves?

Whatever rail system exists is what mining companies installed to facilitate the movement of minerals from their mines in the hinterland to the coast for exports. Africa is logistically, the poorest continent in the world, yet we have fifteen landlocked countries.

The cost of doing business in Africa is astronomical and we only have about 1% global trade, much of it in uprocessed and unbeneficiated minerals!!!

By the way, if Mugabe were as intelligent as you seem to think, Zimbabweans would not be poorer than they were at independence.

Jannet, the newly appointed Fed chair will soon introduce tapering, sending your sorry gukurahundi economy into a tailspin. The days of Quantitative Easing (QE) are numbered, and the young man of Kenyan ancestry is straggling the global stage with pride.

We have seen some of the sensible contributors lose control. I cannot say I know why those that started this website did. I suspect they wanted Zimbabweans to see the true picture on the ground.I don’t think they anticipated the @Mthwakazi and the @ RA’s to behave as they did today. Spewing all the hate they did. Some tried to cool them off and also ended up getting emotional. My brothers I URGE YOU whether you are white black, brown or green, whether you are white Zlmbabwean Shona or Ndebele, continue to engage each other. Ignore these people when they contribute because of the hate they have spread. You have NBS, MIXED RACE, JACK THE RABBIT, FALLENZ, CLIVE SUTHERLAND, REVENGER,BOSS MY ASS who we haven’t heard from for a while, BEE and all the others that have contributed to this website. I am going to do what the Rabbit has done in the past.Jack the Rabbit this is for you and all my brothers that are dying for freedom.

And I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on
    For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on

For no one can fill those of your needs
    That you won’t let show

You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on

What a wondeerful song, I love it to bits.

Just how I wish our Shona majority could take it to heart and accept that Mthwakazi people are fellow brothers and sisters who have similar rights to theirs, despite their being a minority.

      With this song, I hope and pray they will realise the errors of their ways and stop calling on Mthwakazi to atone for 1890s wars they were not involved in;

      I hope and pray, they accept that it would be sinful and evil to expect Mthwakazi people to make similar calls on Chatunga, Robert jnr and Bona on account of their father’s gukurahundi sins;

      I hope and pray that they accept that every Zimbabwean, Mthwakazi people included, Welshman Ncube and Dumiso Dabengwa included have every right to participate in the national politics and any other affairs of their country, at any level like all Shona people;

I hope and pray that in line with their claims of being the most educated, they reflect this in their daily lives in engaging fellow citizens and avoid playing double standards when things dont go their way.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH DOCTOR DO LITTLE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
