US freezes Zimbabwe embassy account

Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa has claimed that Zimbabwean embassy officials failed to access their salaries after the United States government allegedly froze the embassy bank account.

Chinamasa made the claims while speaking at the Zimbabwe International Business Conference at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).

“I could not believe it when I was told that the US had frozen the embassy account and this created problems because we could not send money to pay the embassy workers their salaries.

“We advised them to open a new account with a different bank, but this was not possible as every other bank gave them flimsy excuses,” said the minister.

According to Chinamasa the bank account was only unfrozen after Zimbabwe took the matter up with the US State Department.

“I know that the account has been unfrozen, but why do that in the first place? The account was only opened after talking to the State Department. Why go that far?” asked Chinamasa.

The US and the European Union among other western countries imposed sanctions on the Mugabe regime in response to gross human rights abuses. Several officials and companies have been removed over the years as a reward for progress towards reforms.

Poor little Chinamasa. Are the other boys being horrible to you again? I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that you are an obnoxious little so and so.

This makes absolute sense! The Zim Government have become so used to being given money, by the West and then stealing it, that they again become rabid toward the West when the buck stops. Simple rule of economics, ” when you have no money in bank, don’t write checks “

This story needs a comment from US embassy. With the government being sooo broke and failing to pay salaries on time, this could be ‘diesel from a rock’ story.

It might have been caused by the rumours about changing dates of payment to government employees and the very fact that there is no head and tail about the economy really. With Zanupf aligned prophets claiming miracle moneys and miraculous economic recoveries professionally run banks need to be cautious. It could be miraculous figures with no real money deposited!

Theres more to this than meets the eye.the us has never been led by idiots but zim is constantly led by these.the way i see it these fat zims were now hiding their stash via the enbassy account or some such scam.they are full of chicannery.here we might condone ,after all institutions are powerless since the bosses earn large bags of money and tend to look the other way, however in the us there is no such nonsense.

They plundered one too many national resource. They tortured one too many innocent dissenter. They put one to many fist of arrogance and defiance in the air. They gave one too many false witness to accuse one too many brother and sister. They took one too many farm and life’s work that belonged to another. They coveted one to many times. They destroyed one too many homes. They took away one too many jobs. They starved one too many child, orphan, poor and needy and old person “You have destroyed your nation and slain your people.” You will reap what you have sown! Repent!

It may be some idiot somewhere in the embassy was utilising the account for money laundering from the diamond proceeds. I could be wrong but in the absence of an explanation we lend ourselves to all manner of interpretations. Chinamasa your government is notorious for hogging the limelight for all the wrong reasons. I would not pass anything over you.

      There is no war.
But , its about time countries stopped regarding the US as the UN or allowing them to act that way, and closed their embassies in protest.
When Russiaoved intom Cuba the US government put the US on a stoate on national alert due to cubas cloase proximity.
Now, the US GETS INVOLVED IN THE Ukraine and consider its wrong for Russia to react as the US did.
If the US continues on its path there will be violence and they will lose – Russia, China,Iran and North Korea having greater military power and greater wealth.
There is a need for the US to understand the days of US dictatorship are over, even when you try and justify it with propaganda.
There is a great need for a reasonable US government that promotes democracy rather than a US dictatorship.
