The Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe (VMCZ) Board has invested faith in the leadership capabilities of seasoned journalist Loughty Dube by appointing him to head the media self-regulation body on a permanent basis.

VMCZ board chairperson Alec Muchadehama announced Tuesday that Dube had beginning January assumed the role of Executive Director after serving one month in an acting capacity following the resignation of Takura Zhangazha, who left the organisation in November to pursue other interests after having been with VMCZ for three years.

“On behalf of the VMCZ Board, I wish Mr. Dube well in his new responsibilities and I call on all VMCZ members and stakeholders to support him in his new position,” reads part of a statement issued Tuesday by Muchadehama.

The seasoned journalist who has 15 years in media and training experience and held several leadership positions in media organisations previously served as the Programmes Officer, Advocacy and Complaints at VMCZ.
