All I want for Christmas

via All I want for Christmas – The Zimbabwean 3 February 2015

Dear Family and Friends,

I’ve been writing these letters about life in Zimbabwe since February 2000 and could never have carried on for so long without the support, encouragement and enthusiasm of so many people who follow the tragic events bedevilling our country.

To end 2014 I thought rather > than delve yet again into the mucky, murky political power struggles which have sent us spiralling downwards again, I’d produce a Christmas wish list for Zimbabwe.

My own list is so long and painful that I put a notice on Facebook and asked people to join in. Some of the contributions are included here, edited slightly for space and to avoid duplication. They come from people all over the world and tell a most poignant story that says so much about the people who love Zimbabwe in such a few words.

All I want for Christmas for Zimbabwe is:

Equal rights for all Zimbabweans regardless of our colour or political > persuasions I wish for a new political landscape , economic growth and that those who have caused this misery to be Vanquished.

MY PENSION

My Zimbabwe back!

Perfect rule so the great people of Zimbabwe can regain their dignity and self worth.

Water in our taps

That the elephants stay home.

Law and order.

Honesty with a conscience

Leaders that care for their people more than their bank accounts.

A new government with honesty and integrity who really cares about the people and Zimbabwe

A country that rises from the ruins and ashes it finds itself in now.

To be free from fear, greed and corruption

Peace, jobs and a decent government

For sense, sensibility, integrity and responsibility to prevail, for all.

Good inclusive governance for ALL Zimbabweans regardless of colour

Democracy, accountability and all people in Zim who have bravely stuck it out to be super blessed in some way.

To all Zimbabweans and supporters of Zimbabwe, wherever you are in the world, thank you for not giving up on us; thank you for not forgetting us and thank you for everything you do to keep Zimbabwe in the international conscience. Until next time, Happy Christmas, love cathy. 19th December 2014 Copyright ? Cathy Buckle. www.cathybuckle.com
