UNDER fire Masvingo provincial affairs minister Kudakwashe Bhasikiti has been accused of forging a letter purporting to have been written by his colleague Tafadzwa Shumba apologising for saying the minister spoke ill of President Mugabe.

Bhasikiti is currently suing Shumba who told the Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee that Bhasikiti said Mugabe is old and senile during the December congress.

In what is seen as an attempt to save himself from an expected cabinet reshuffle, Bhasikiti allegedly wrote a letter to the party leadership purporting that Shumba is seeking forgiveness and that he was being used by Psychomotor minister Josaya Hungwe.

“I reported what I said about Bhasikiti so as to tarnish his image and I was sent to do so by minister Hungwe,” reads part of the forged letter.

However Shumba quickly responded to say he had nothing to do with the letter and he stands firm by his words he said in the PCC meeting.

“I have nothing to do with that letter. It is another case of forgery and I stand by my words that Bhasikiti said Mugabe is old and senile. I have affidavits of the people who also heard him saying that,” Shumba said.

He added: “I got this letter from the party officials who said it was brought in by Bhasikiti.”

Bhasikiti whom Mugabe said was in the “wrong basket” for allegedly being part of the former VP Joice Mujuru faction is under pressure to prove his loyalty ahead of the much anticipated cabinet reshuffle.

This week the war veterans in the province upped their pressure to have him fired saying they were willing to meet Mugabe over the issue.
