‘No oil deposits in Zimbabwe’

via Bulawayo24 NEWS | ‘No oil deposits in Zimbabwe’ 06 October 2014

Zimbabwe has no oil deposits deputy Mines minister Fred Moyo has said.

His remarks come on the back of media reports that the land locked country could be having oil and gas reserves according to an exploration exercise performed about two decades ago.

However Moyo, former managing director of two Zimbabwe Stock Exchange listed mining firms, said that from a ministry’s point of view there has been no announcement of an oil find and they have not found any oil.

He said while geologically Zimbabwe has the Karoo sedimentary basins capable of hosting gas and oil, the basis have not been adequately explored.

Moyo said the Mines and Minerals Development department was interrogating the issue and as such it will be part of the forthcoming Zimbabwe Mining Indaba agenda.

There is oil in Zim and it has been found. The pockets are too small to be viable so it will remain in the ground.

The original article talks of “could have” and “potential” Based on explorarory work actually done!

The deputy minister says there is nothing. Then he goes on to state “the issue will.be deliberated at the mining indaba” Pardon my pedestrain mentality. Surely if there is nothing, why have an indaba about it? Then you discover the deputy Minister’s famiily Trust is sitting on the claims. Or worse still Cranswick has them!

I can also see the vultures circling trying to make a plan to baloon their pockets, but probably there is need to stretch the retirement age to 90 so as to retain the stamina

The ‘Dr.’ said Zim had oil. All that needs to be done is find it. That from any other doctor? Only from Zim mad doc. Where is Mavhunga and vaMutasa in his suit and socks (no shoes) and her on the horse pipe – when Zim and the new ‘doc’ needs them?
