PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE HONOURABLE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZIMBABWE , AND SECOND SECRETARY OF THE RULING PARTY , ZANU PF HONOURABLE DR . JOICE TEURAI ROPA MUJURU, TO THE CITIZENS OF ZIMBABWE.
My fellow citizens and countrymen, each of you will no doubt have seen, read and or heard about what appears to be a relentless attack on my person in the public media. I believe that I carry a national responsibility as Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and that it is my duty to stay above partisan politicking.
However, I have an equal obligation to you and His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe R. G. Mugabe, to only serve this nation, if I am and remain fit to do so.
I regret that certain persons have elected to make false, unsubstantiated, malicious ,defamatory and irresponsible statements about me, solely for the purpose of engineering their wide spread publication in all forms of media across the world , and bringing the Ruling Party , Zanu Pf (“the Party”) , the Government and the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, into disrepute.
There has also been an unconstitutional call for my resignation and /or removal from BOTH Party and public office , on the spurious grounds that I am “corrupt”, “a gossiper”, “demonic”, “jealous and divisive”, “inept” and “ [ that I am ] unfit for consumption by flies and dogs” .
In the interests of Party and in keeping with its established protocol, I have previously chosen not to issue any statements.
However today, the 16 November 2014, The Sunday Mail Newspaper, in its banner head line story, has accused me of treason. I am accused of being involved in an attempt to overthrow the legitimate Zimbabwean Government led by His Excellency, the President and First Secretary of Zanu Pf , and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, R.G. Mugabe .
This allegation which is wholly untrue and cannot go unchallenged, in the national interest.
Leaders are elected by the people to serve the people. I am an elected servant of people of Zimbabwe and as such I can only serve this country in any capacity, when elected by the people. Unbridled ambition, misplaced self righteous adulation and hubris, offends the Lord, and can only lead to the ruin of the person (s), and the Party and therefore Government.
Whilst I personally believe that “silence is golden”, in the face of such unprecedented , systematic and coordinated attacks on a serving Vice President of our beloved Zimbabwe, I have been obliged to make this statement, for and on behalf of all current and future national leaders who may face the same problem in future.
I deny any and all the allegations of treason, corruption , incompetence, and mis-use of public office being routinely made against me in “The Herald” and “Sunday Mail” Newspapers.
I have briefed my legal practitioners to take the necessary steps, at law, to restore my good reputation, political standing and dignity.
I stand ready to defend myself before the Party, and in any court of law on any of the allegations made against me , at any time , in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe.
To you my fellow citizens I say, that I, Joice Teurai Ropa Mujuru, am here to serve the people of Zimbabwe , and the party ZANU PF, that I have always been a member of . No amount of malicious, hurtful and false statements about me, my late husband, my family, children , associates or business interests (real or imagined) can deter me from the mission at hand, that is to assist His Excellency President R . G Mugabe in driving the social and economic programmes of his Government to successful fruition.
In so doing, I will forever be guided, by due process, and respect the Constitution of Zanu Pf, and the Constitution of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
I thank you, the people of Zimbabwe for your continued support.

Mai Mujuru, your defence has also been our defence all along since the days of Joshua Nkomo Zapu. Mugabe, Herald , ZBC and Zanu has always told lies about everybody(ZUD, ZUM,MDC, FORUM ZAPU, Tsvangirai, Josh, Tekere etc), because they did not play tune to Mugabe and Zanu thinking.
Remember how you and the Herald labelled Strive Masiyiwa as a white man front and not fit to run mobile business in Zimbabwe. Strive was not even given an audience in the public owned media.
Today our sons-artists(eg Mapfumo), academics(eg J Manyika), business people(eg Masiyiwa) recognised all over the world do not have a say or given the opportunity to be heard in their country of birth because Zanu does not like them.
I wonder whether your side of the story will even be heard in the public owned media which is owned by all of us as tax payers.
Anyway God is a forgiving God and hope this experience has been Paul Damascus encounter to you. Begin speaking for the justice of the people of Zimbabwe. A justice to which you sacrificed. As acitizen of Zimbabwe I feel very strongly about people who want to get into power unconstitutionally, however, it is equally wrong to label peopleas being bent on assassinating the president of the Republic Of Zimbabwe without evidence as this tends to show signs of ‘paronia’. If indeed the claims of the president that Mai Mujuru, Rugare Gumbo et al planned to kill him and he has evidence why did he not report the case to the Police and the Courts who have the constitutional right to deal with such issues otherwise some people will just take it as ‘granstanding’. I say so because we have been there before; how many politicians and commanders were arrested in Mozambique during thewar by Mugabe on baseless grounds, was Ndavaningi Sithole, Morgan tsvangirayi not brought before the courts on such trumped charges but the cases were thrown out by the courts. Was the honourable Joshua Nkomo not forced to flee the coutry just after independence by the same person.
The same person is doing as he pleases with zanu pf not following the constitution and regulations in suspending and removing Mai Mujuru’s supporters. One wonders if those attending the zanu pf congress are at all upbeat about it as no one will listen to their views. On aserious note we may be witnessing the Head of State who may seriously be unwell mentally who needs help. I am not a Psychiatrist by what I have witnessed of late makes me wonder whether he is mentally ok.
What does ZPF including you VP Mujuru expect from a 90 year old? In old age one’s mind cannot comprehend things clearly and its common to experience delusional thoughts. I am not surprised that he is suspicious of many of you. And for those still in good books with him, just wait for your turn. This is a crisis situation that many of you have not cared enough for Zimbabwe people to avoid, or have even participated in creating. Let those who still have power in our beloved Zimbabwe, for once, stand up and do something right for the people.
Let this be a lesson to you and all your tormentors that when everything else is said and done a dog will eat it’s puppies good or bad in order to survive. I have not seen my family for 8 years. Everyone of you knows I am innocent. Yet I was convicted and exiled for something I did not do. I am not celebrating your pain. At least you now understand how I felt. You now understand what zanu can do to you whether you deserve it or not.
It’s good Dr Gire has made room for some reckless abandon and soul-searching. Even if the Weevils overcome, the ball game will henceforth be played to changed rules. The success of Dr Mujuru’s soul search will be when she adorns genuine liberator gab and kicks ass convincingly. All the cards are stacked in her favour if she knew where to look. Self pity will not do it.
Dont buy much of this pity thing. You have been part of the machinery that has crushed every effort of reasoning and anyone who dares lift up their heads and have held the country under ransom, economic disaster and disrepute. If they have finally baby dumped you , then maybe its time you started working for the well being of the nation without prejudice to tribes, race and regional devide.

There is political life outside Zanu puff. It is not this party that was ordained by God nor the masses to govern in Zimbabwe. As you know comrades party iyi kwamakore inoshandisa kuvhundusira, kuuraya nekuba ma elections kuti itonge..all because all you in that party could not stand up to Mugabe. This Zanu is disintegrating and will worsen after congress and fully collapse after Mugabe. All he is doing pointing fingers at you all that you plotting to kill him is all lies that you including everyone in politburo and central committee knows so.
All you being persecuted by Mugabe, Mnangagwa and team just get out of that sinking ship before it’s too late, the departure of Mugabe is end of Zanu puff and end of political careers of all in that party at that time.

It baffels the mind when so many people so suddenly side with the VP and forget about her track record the last 34 years.When all the past gov people were killed by whatever means suited Mugabe she never said anything about it.What about all the cevilians who were murdered?I can carry on and on.She is part of ZPF and should get no simpathy from ordinary Zimbabweans.

@Tsuro and Daniel you are right. We dont care about their inhouse fighting.infact its best not to write anything about it.
It’s all good riddance to bad rubbish. Surely, majority of oppressed Zimboz don’t give a damn to what happens to any of the zanu pf hoodlums – Mujuru, Kaukonde, Kunaka, you name it.
We know sure that the whole zanu pf elite group has betrayed our aspirations beyond measure. We also know for sure that, most have also maimed and killed innocent citizens whose only crime was daring exercising their democratic right to oppose zanu pf on issues they didn’t agree with it. The Mujurus’ Kaukondes’, Kunakas’, the blood-thirsty Jabus’, and many other zanu pf hooligans currently under fire were not spectators in the zanu pf evil games – murder, rape, corruption, enslavement of fellow citizens, etc.
So, truth is only fools (mapenzi anokangamwa chazuro ngehope) will sympathize with these evil zanu pf functionaries who are simple been given a tiny dose of the very medicine they have been administering on majority of the citizens in large doses for over a generation.
