Grace’s Mujuru attacks will spark war: Biti

via Grace’s Mujuru attacks will spark war: Biti 20/10/2014

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace, is agitating for war by pouring vitriol and belittling Vice-President Joice Mujuru, according to MDC Renewal Team leader Tendai Biti.

Biti made the remarks while addressing the MDC Renewal Team’s party structures last weekend.

“The hate speech by Grace will lead to one thing and one thing alone, war. If one plants a storm they will surely reap or harvest a tsunami. She has perfected the art of intolerance and politics of hate,” said Biti.

“She has poured vitriol against liberation war fighters and these will not take such things lightly. Grace has exposed what we have always suspected of Mugabe, that he hates himself for being African.”

“One cannot hate other people with the same intensity that his wife has shown without hating themselves,” Biti said to rapturous applause at a hall in the sprawling political hot-bed of Highfield in Harare.

Over the last two weeks, Grace has addressed rallies where she berated factionalism and what she said were attempts by senior Zanu PF officials to oust her 90-year-old husband from power.

Observers however, said the main target of Grace’s vitriolic attacks was Mujuru who leads a faction battling to succeed Mugabe.

Grace also humiliated other senior Zanu PF officials during her rallies such as Zanu PF’s secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa.

Shattered dreams

Biti said Grace’s attacks will have consequences.

He said since Mugabe’s controversial re-election last July Zimbabweans were now worse off economically.

“Mugabe has stolen the Zimbabwean dream, we had dreams at independence, dreams that could be achieved but these have been shattered and turned into a nightmare.

“Now one year after the elections even me a former finance minister has no cent to my name,” Biti said.

“Life has become even more painful. As the Renewal Team our policy department is in the process of crafting a new inclusive economic blueprint that we will try to present to Zanu PF as an alternative to their political ideology that they have tried to foist on the economy.”

“The blueprint will give our people hope and equal opportunity for survival,” said Biti who served as treasury chief under the inclusive government between 2009 and 2013.

Under his stewardship, Zimbabwe’s economy enjoyed a period of relative stability and growth.

The MDC-Renewal Team broke away from Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party following differences over strategy and tactics. They also accused Tsvangirai of undemocratic tendencies.

Tsvangirai bigger thief

Biti had no kind words for his former boss accusing him of stealing “our dream of a New Zimbabwe”.

“While Mugabe is a thief who stole our collective dream of a prosperous nation after independence, Tsvangirai is a bigger thief who nicked our dream of a new nation, our dream of re-birth in our lifetime,” he said.

“I must say though we make no (apology) for what we did (breaking away). In fact, looking at what Tsvangirai is doing now we feel vindicated and thank God for showing us that we were being led by the greatest fool of our generation.”

He described Tsvangirai as “the democratic struggle’s own version of Morrison Nyathi”, drawing parallels between the ex-premier and the infamous liberation war sell-out Nyathi.

Nyathi is accused of masterminding the massacre of thousands of liberation war fighters by Rhodesian soldiers during the struggle in the 1970s.

“Each struggle has its own sell-out and Tsvangirai is our own Nyathi,” said Biti.

“He has sold out the struggle. I asked him to seek the people’s forgiveness following the poll loss last year and he refused. He could not get himself to swallow his pride and admit he had failed the nation.”

You are an even bigger failure. Siyana naTsvangson and do your stuff since you now have your own party. Attacking Tsvangson makes you no different to the person you refer to in this article. Unza zvako pa table and lets see what you have then we the people will decide. Zvodosembura!

Mugabe stole the Zimbabwean dream in the 1970s when the likes Rex Nhongo were gullible enough to put him in charge of the party. This was the greatest mistake. We are now suffering because the man and his mistress now think they own us.The position of party president must be contested by all through a secret ballot. No position should be uncontested.Everyone should be put to the test.Even Grace should have openly contested for her new position which she is going to be “appointed” by her husband.Mugabe is behaving like a defacto monarch and many spineless ZANU PF supporters have come to view him as such. However the end is nigh.

Shallow minds discuss people. Biti is an advocate, but politically he is very shallow minded or may be he is confused. He has lost his vision. The issue on hand is not Grace, Tsvangirai or Mujuru. What people want to know any political party small or big what are they offering. ZANU PF is busy throwing cluters in the ears of people and their aim is one, remove the attention of people from the economic melt down caused by their mis governance lack of priority, greedy and ignorancy. They are busy in the background preparing for the 2018 elections. If I was a political leader, my priority would be going around sensetising people of the right that individuals have in the new constitution, making people understand the extend of the damage the policies of ZANU PF are to the country and the future generations. The level of debt and how the current government has eaten into the future incoem of the unborn children. Instill real dislike and real none tolerance of a day under ZANU PF since it will continue impoverish people. If need be even have friendly country train some young diasporas into basic military understanding in self defence. 2018 will be more bloody and harder since people are really feeling the pain of the rigging, but they need the courage that they are protect against ZANU PF thugs, CIO, ZRP and the military. Nelson Mandela toppled apartheid by having himself trained militarily nad instilled fear and doing all subotage activities against apartheid rule. Thus my opinion.

Biti thinks everything leads to war. He thinks any politician riled by wild remarks can easily pick up sticks, bows and arrows, catapults and guns, then goes to war the next morning. It’s not everybody who likes the idea of violence/stonethrowing like the Bitis and the Gwisais of 1998. Lost as Zanu PF may seem, they will talk to each other and move on, and Biti’s war will only be a war of words and nothing else. I now understand why those in the MDC-T have written off Tendai Biti. He dreams as he walks.

As a former ZANLA veteran it is painful for me to concede that Tendai Biti is right in his assertions that Grace Mugabe will provoke and ugly and nasty war in this country. Luring the povo to rallies with promises of cash or seed maize is cheap and dirty politics then using such occasions as a platform to launch scathing attacks upon party members demonstrates clearly political immaturity. She also lacks the eloquence her husband possesses and then combine this with a fake Doctorate is a recipe for disaster? This form of corruption has to end, it is not what we sacrificed our lives for.

Biti is mad. This is the former finance minister who is now Gono’s layer. The same Gono who destroyed the economy

Biti must be reminded that he is not a commendator. He must organise his party and leave ZANU fighting.I agree with you Machakachaka. This Biti thinks everything leeds to war.He is so full of European events which he wants to paste on the African arena. At this stage, Biti needs some lessens in Shona as he can hardly address people in Shona, yet the povo who vote in large numbers are not comfortable in being addressed in English. The man dreams big and has the wildest ideas I have ever seen.Far from being practical

How could Biti compare anybody to Mugabe. Mugabe has single handedly been responsible for the massacre of thousands of innocent Zimbabweans starting way back from the 80s.

He should focus on what his party can offer and not focus on individuals with nothing to do with his party.

Biti is dead right to comment on Grace. Any national leader is obliged to comment on current issues be they positive or negative. Grace is a perfect example of the terrible effects of politics of patronage and intolerance, corruption, lies and just down right abuse of national resources to pop up a rejected political system by the electorate. One sees survival tactics of of a scared woman who is worried about her future after the imminent death of her husband due to old age. She unleashes all the venom being helped by a vicious political opportunist in the name of Jonathan Moyo. People oppose Zanupf but we generally respect their role in the liberation of this country. Jonathan Moyo and Grace Mugabe cannot find praises from everyone if they maul Joyce Mujuru building their stories on transparent lies.

Biti is obliged to comment on whatever he feels. It doesnot seem to be the case for ordinary Zimbabweans. Where is the democracy . Biti must try to work with others so as to cede power from the thugs called ZanuPF. Pambere ne Zimbabweans.

I am also a ZANLA freedom fighter who sacrificed my life and time to fight for a better Zimbabwe. I would like to agree with Biti and Cde Wedza that Grace is brewing war in our country. If this is Cde RG Mugabe’s idea, l would like to urge the President to stop this nonsense right away. If he does not stop it, we will go back and dig up our AK 47s and will stop this one way or the other. Where was Grace when we were fighting Ian Smith’s zvimbwasungata. Being Mugabe’s mistress does not give her the right to disobey our freedom fighters. Mai Mujuru (Cde Teurai Ropa) is our war hero and we will defend her with our lives. She may not be the perfect leader, but this is not for Grace to use her bedroom prerogatives to decide. It is for the people of Zimbabwe to decide. GRACE BACK OFF AND CONCENRATE ON WHAT YOU KNOW BEST, SHOPPING AND HARLOTRY

Glad to see that ZimSit is back up,
    after almost a full week!

This back and forth criticism of each
other, whether it’s ZPF, MDC or another,
    is so boring.

What we need is a collective gathering of
    like minds, intellectuals, strategists and
    non-political Organizers.

I am emigrating back to Africa, from 40 years
in the USA, to semi-retirement. I have done
some in depth research and it’s Zambia for me.

South Africa is corrupt, racist and out of touch.
Botswana is great, but I used to live and work in
Livingstone, and the Falls area is vibrant, so
    I made the choice.

My point is, Zimbabwe can’t even be considered,
it’s a hell hole under Mugarbage, corrupt, second
to last in world Governance and look ready for war!

What a shame, people feel unsafe, impotent and lost.
Good luck getting ZPF and the Mugarbage rot, out!
