via Iran ready to share technology with Zim – New Zimbabwe 22/02/2015
IRAN’s Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari said Tehran is prepared to share its experiences in various areas of science and technology with Zimbabwe.
Speaking in a meeting with Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Oppah Muchinguri in Tehran on Saturday, Sattari pointed to the agreements reached between the two countries in the area of science, and said that Iran is one of the few countries advanced in various areas of new technologies, including nanotechnology and biotechnology.
Sattari further said Iran currently produces a major part of its needed laboratory equipment, adding that the Islamic Republic is prepared to export the equipment and its indigenous knowledge to countries like Zimbabwe.
Muchinguri, for her part, appreciated Iran’s willingness to help and cooperate with the African country and emphasized the importance of closer cooperation between the two countries in various areas of technology.
During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on ways to implement a previously signed agreement to cooperate in various areas.
There are growing economic, social and cultural ties between Iran and Zimbabwe. Relations between the two countries started in 1979 when the late Vice President Simon Muzenda visited Tehran to meet leaders of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. Zimbabwe opened an embassy in Tehran in 2003.
