via Jonathan Moyo ‘real CIA spy’, Mliswa 27/09/2014
ZANU PF’s spikey legislator, Temba Mliswa, has attacked information minister Jonathan Moyo, claiming he is an agent of American intelligence services.
Mliswa was reacting to a Sunday Mail report which questioned his ties to a US embassy official the publication claimed to be a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) spy.
Moyo is the “real CIA spy”, said the Hurungwe West legislator as he accused the publication of being used by the information minister to “set him up”.
Mliswa had been challenged over allegations he took US embassy staffer, Eric Little, on a tour of Hurungwe West in June to meet local government officials.
Little is the second secretary (parliamentary affairs) at the US embassy, but the Mail claimed that his real employer is the CIA.
The pro-Zanu PF state media establishment has run reports attacking a so-called “dirty dozen” group of ruling party legislators accused of working with the US to topple President Robert Mugabe after allegedly accepting developmental funds from the embassy.
The reports further claimed the legislators sold state secrets to the Americans in return for the cash with Zanu PF spokesman Rugare Gumbo vowing the party would launch investigations.
“Personally, I didn’t benefit from the programme, but there is nothing wrong with those who did as the money which is already in the country was approved by the government,” he said last week.
“I challenge the government to stop everything and send back the money … that is cheap politics by those who are using State media to tarnish my image, but that will not work.”
The US embassy also dismissed the reports saying no MP benefited from US Ambassador’s Self-Help Fund with officials saying the legislators were only consulted as a matter of courtesy.
said embassy spokesperson Karen Kelley in a statement: “We would like to correct the impression generated by recent articles in The Herald and Sunday Mail, which alleged that local legislators aligned to Zanu PF were recipients of the US Ambassador’s Self-Help Fund.
“The programme has provided small grants of up to $20,000 to assist small-scale community development projects improve the basic economic or social conditions at the village level. It is distinct from larger-scale assistance provided by the US government.
“Specifically, these funds are meant to support small, short-term, community-driven activities that are designed to bring about a tangible and immediate improvement in peoples’ lives.
“The grants are made on a competitive basis and US Embassy staff conducts the selection of recipients of these grants after assessment in line with priorities identified by the US mission in Zimbabwe.
“These include income generation, education and vocational training, access to water and improved natural resource management as well as health, nutrition and social services to assist vulnerable or at-risk populations.”

What about the sanctions. Have they been lifted.
The plot thickens!
Mliswa you are the top sell out of Zimbabwe. You have been on the payroll of American CIA since year 2000. Jonathan Moyo is your collegue within CIA. Spare us your nonsensical gibberish. You are a greedy pathetic nincompoop.
The Tokoloshe is laughing at them both and Zanu for all its lies.
Hezvo ko zvaunotaura seune proof nhai Gandanga. If these two guys are CIA spies why let them clinch such high positions? I just think this is childish banter designed to divert people’s attention from the fast crumbling economy. More a CIO than a CIA plot!
Great. Let them shaft each other. Awaiting the ” night of the thousand long knives ” . Pliz hurry up the end for us of your misrule
State Secrets?My ring piece!
What would happen if an American Congressman received funding from the Chinese ambassador DC? A congressional hearing and a congressional sanction.
Read the article facts presented by all involved then make your comments. In this particular article I tend to agree with Mliswa even if I do not like his political views, however I fail to see the importance of CIA involvement in a purely business program which is intended to help poor Zimbabweans. This cheap politics is the source of our current problems affecting our economy. The state media should try to be professional not to be used as simple puppets.
What proof has he got [Mr Mliswa] that the media statement was sanctioned by the Minister of Information? It is possible that one of these young journalists got excited and presented an article to impress his bosses without real facts.Mr Mliswa should direct his criticism to the newspaper editor who allowed the publication of this article.
However, Jonathan Moyo is a rouble-rouser. I wonder why they need and keep him in ZANU PF. Is it the ‘keep your friends close, and your enemies closer’ approach?
Do they find Jonathan better within ZANU PF than outside?
One former Governor of Masvingo Province sung Hymn 100 – Baba ndiri mwana wako, kana ndakatadza ndiregererei baba. He was coopted into cabinet to manage ZESA.
Jonho be warned.
Self-pointing fingers?
Jonathan Moyo cannot be a CIA agent because if he visits the USA diplomatic passport be damned he would be arrested for grant fraud committed against the Ford Foundation whilst he was in Kenya. The Ford Foundation is headquartered in the USA.
