MDC Renewal Team sets date for elective congress

via MDC Renewal Team sets date for elective congress – The Zimbabwean 14 June 2015

The MDC Renewal Team’s National Council met in Gweru on Friday and resolved to hold its first convention at the end of July.

The convention will among other issues deal with electing a new leadership, define and redefine the party, come up with a new name for the party, logo and establish a strong structural base.

The National Council felt there was an urgent need to renew the party and Zimbabwe and rebuild them with greater energy.

The National Council reinstated the Mandel resolution on the need to engage other like-minded political parties and individuals to form a broad coalition of democrats and remove the Zanu PF regime.

“We will thus work with others particularly the political parties, churches, women, youths, CSOs and other democrats to establish a United Democratic Front – a Coalition Against Dictatorship,” the National Council noted in its resolutions.

“We have no doubt that real democratic transformation is inevitable and that the people of Zimbabwe will be free again. We will create a new Zimbabwe, a new reality and a new democracy through a unity of democratic forces,” said the National Council.
