HARARE – Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday said the West is to blame for the climate change that is going to see countries like Zimbabwe receiving low rainfalls this season.
Speaking at the launch of the national climate change response strategy, Mnangagwa said the bulk of climate change issues emanated from Europe and America.

(God created the world the way he intended it to be but because man wanted a different life we started polluting the environment through making vehicles and constructing factories. But we did not start with is, it started in Europe through industrialisation).

Mnangagwa said the western world should fund development programmes across the globe since they are to blame for climate change and its resultant effects.
“Saka tichitaura the developed countries ndovakatanga nazvo ndovakakanganisa zvinhu zvaMwari. Ngavatipe mari yekuti tigadzirise zvibudirire. (So when we speak of the developed world, we say they ruined the world, therefore they should give us the money to redress what they damaged.)
Mnangagwa went on to plead with the developed world to assist developing countries to fight the effects of climate change, saying “this is a legitimate request even God will support our request”.
The vice president said the effects of climate change pose risks to the current strategies of tackling multi-sectoral challenges.
The world is currently experiencing recurrent droughts, floods and extreme temperatures.
“To this end, the impact of climate change is projected to impede economic growth, as it affects climate sensitive sectors such as water, agriculture, livestock, energy, health and environment as well as manufacturing, mining and transport sectors which are all critical,” he said.
Mnangagwa said because of the poor yields likely to be expected in the rural areas, government was in the process of distributing maize seed and fertiliser to over 300 000 vulnerable households.
He said as part of the medium to long-term strategies to stem the trend of reduced water availability caused by climate change, government was acquiring dam construction equipment from Egypt, China, Brazil and Belarus.
French Ambassador to Zimbabwe Laurent De Lahouse said the country’s carbon emissions only contribute 0,045 percent of the global emission.
“Zimbabwe suffers severely from the consequences of climate change – the change is wind patterns and the drought in Southern Africa has direct impact on the agricultural production in Zimbabwe,” he said.

Naturally all the locals who burn the bush every year, chop down all the trees, graze the earth bare with their wretched goats, till the soil without contour ridges and never service their vehicles have nothing to do with our environmental problems. This in not to speak of untreated sewage flowing into our rivers and dams from our ZANU dominated water authorities.
It is a sad turn that this pathetic excuse (Mnangagwa) for a human being is likely be our next president

The locals in Europe cut, burnt and pillaged at will for centuries, so much so that there is very little natural vegetation left, except for man-made plantations.
As for “Western” made everything, the raw materials come from the Third world and most of the factories are in the those regions.

True, Westerners have their own sins to answer for, environmental issues not being the least of them. Still, two wrongs don’t make a right.
Wherever goats proliferate they are a disaster. They survive where cattle cannot because they will eat everything down to the last root.
It’s quite a problem that there are these ZANU PF idiots in influencial positions that constantly denounce whites and all things ‘western’, ‘forgetting’ that the Chinese are no saints and never ever acknowledging their own persistent failures and criminal accomplishments.
But the real problem, is that there is a sustainable number of Zimbabweans out there, that don’t just buy and believe this drivel, they actually swallow it hook, line and sinker.

Where ZANU and the WHITES are the same is in their congruent disdain for the ordinary Zimbo.

Incorrect. The whites are ordinary zimbo’s, in fact lower due to racist laws, and all zimbo’s have a common disdain for the murderers, rapists and looters of Zimbabwe.
Climate change has always been a part of world’s geological history. We inflate our self-importance by thinking we affect nature. One volcano one hurricane and poof! Not to say we should not take care of and respect our earth. I hope the VP fixes up the cycle tracks abandons his cavalcade and bikes to work. We would all be a lot healthier!

Anyone who has read one of the latest National Geographic magazine will know that Zimbabwe has not even signed up to any environmental protection treaty. The Z President spends almost every day of his life in and aircraft, has a motorcade a mile long. It’s always been a Zanu strategy to blame everything on everyone else. They lead from the back and are great hypocrites.
ZANU is an unmitigated disaster to have been visited on
our country, aside of Ian Smith and his brigade, of course.
Those in Mugabe’s camp, enjoy unlimited luxuries, just like the whites did in the Rhodesian days.

Global warming is a major menace in industrialised countries. Germany will soon do away with nuclear reactors for generating electricity before 2030, They are emphasising on solar and wind farms. Russia had Chenorbyl disaster in 1986, Japan had Fukushima disaster in 2011. Imagine a city like New York, with a population of over 20 million, spewing carbon monoxide daily, how about, Los Angeles, London, New Delhi, Shanghai or Beijing. Millions of cars, industries. We are going the same way. We are also industrialising. Acid rain, global warning, greenhouse effect. The world is being disturbed.
