HARARE – Vice President Joice Mujuru has completed a doctorate degree with the Women’s University in Africa.
Olivia Muchena, the minister of Higher Education, made the announcement in Harare on Monday during the launch of the ZimAsset training programme for members of Parliament. Mujuru, who left Howard Institute while doing Form 2 in 1973 to join the liberation struggle, had to study from home because of her commitments as a Cabinet minister.
A holder of a Masters Degree in Strategic Management, Mujuru will be graduating with a PhD next week.
“We have heard about how the president worked hard under difficult circumstances to attain several degrees but we also have another example of a hard worker in vice president Joice Mujuru who will be graduating with a PhD next week,” Muchena said.
She said Mujuru had managed to achieve that feat notwithstanding the fact that she had a busy schedule in her various capacities in government and the Zanu PF party as well as being a mother.

What an achievement! I am sure the PhD is in non other than her field of specialty, which is Helicopter Shooting.
I would be more than surprised if the PhD is in anything else. But, not that I would dispute it. No, no, no, no,…, far from it. I would simply be surprise, surprise, yes only surprised.
How would I dispute it? It’s now common knowledge that in Mugabe-land anything is possible. Even a 3-months old toddler can legitimately graduate with a PhD, especially from our one and only most prestigious highest institution of learning – the patriotic Women’s University in Africa.

But the only critical thing the country now needs to be informed about is the preferred Title (s) for the VP since she now has both of the most prestigious titles in the land, namely Cde & Dr. I guess she prefers that they are used as combination, for completeness, just as I have been doing here. However the nation remains anxiously waiting for official position on this one. I am sure Cde Dr Oli…is frantically working or consulting on this one & will announce to the nation asap. This woman is capable of attaining even professorship, the majority of people can attain higher level university achievements but its usually about opportunities such as places at university and the availability of fees. Just because someone once failed an exam or dropped out of school doesn’t sum up all they can achieve in life academically. That is the mentality of those who do not like to see others matching or exceeding their own passes.In countries where universities and colleges are abundant like the UK or USA many more people are attaining masters and doctorate degrees they wouldn’t have been able to do if they were in ZImbabwe for example. So well done to Joyce Mujuru for her hard work.

Zimbabwe is now full of people with Ph.Ds whose academic theses are not known. There are loads of people with Ph.Ds of questionable universities and institutes. This Women’s University in Zimbabwe is questionable notwithstanding that it has a university charter from the government. AAh by the way Mai Mujuru is part of the top government.

One of the papers on the web reported that Grace is going to study for a PhD. We talking about someone who could not pass a basic BA degree. What a travesty.
