Zanu-PF Manicaland province has instituted proceedings to have former Presidential Affairs Minister Didymus Mutasa arrested on allegations of murder, corruption, abuse of office, fraud, and sexual abuse of underage girls.Cde Mutasa, once the influential ruling party secretary for administration, is now an ordinary member of Zanu-PF after being linked to the cabal that last year tried to unseat President Mugabe.
Zanu-PF Manicaland province tasked a team led by Zanu-PF secretary for legal affairs Cde Patrick Chinamasa to investigate and prepare a report to be submitted to the police on Mutasa’s alleged illegal activities over the past few years.
It is understood that Mutasa used his official positions to allegedly act with impunity over the years.
Addressing hundreds of party supporters at Vengere Hall in Rusape last Friday, Cde Chinamasa, a lawyer by training, said his team was probing allegations of sexual abuse, corruption and violence.
He said they had so far unearthed evidence showing Mutasa infiltrated the police in Manicaland to ensure all criminal reports made against him died a stillbirth.
Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Oppah Muchinguri, who attended the meeting, said once the investigations were complete a police report would be made.
“We have cases of sexual abuse, fraud, and abuse of party and Government funds. He (Mutasa) was allocating A2 farms illegally to his girlfriends and relatives,” said Cde Muchinguri.
“Cde Chinamasa, who is a legal expert, is heading a special task force that is now finalising its findings on these allegations that has been brought to our attention by the people.
“It is said he was abusing underage girls from the local secondary schools. Police reports were made on these cases and from our findings we have noted that the dockets have disappeared.
“He was so powerful and investigating officers would be transferred from local police stations if they attempted to look into reports made against him.
“He was operating as a mafia boss and people were beaten up around the Makoni area. We understand that his lieutenants are said to have killed a man and the body was later found in a dam at his farm. He is said to be the one who ordered the kill.
“He would adopt young girls and end up sleeping with them, and as we speak one of the girls (name withheld) has sired a child with him. We are also going to look at all the farms he distributed to his lovers and whites.”
Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Mandi Chimene said her office, together with other departments, had since repossessed 12 farms Mutasa had illegally allocated to white farmers.
“He was protecting a clique of white farmers around the Headlands area who were staying on gazetted farms. We have since retaken them for proper distribution.
“Mutasa with the aid of his bodyguards who operated under the party’s youth group dubbed Simudza Makoni physically assaulted party members. We have Cde Chitura who was beaten by these thugs; she almost died.
“We have since established that he is collecting US$8 500 monthly from party properties. The money is being collected by one Mandi Majoni, his alleged girlfriend.”
According to information gathered by The Sunday Mail, illegal land allocations to his lovers and friends by Mutasa are said to have begun in 2005 when was appointed Minister of State for National Security, Lands, Land Reform and Resettlement in the President’s Office.
Cde Chinamasa said the Manicaland Province executive was expecting the next Politburo meeting to endorse their call to have Mutasa fired from the ruling party.
“He committed a series of offences. He is probably sick, he still claims to be the secretary for administration. We noted that in his statement published in the private media that our congress was illegal.
“Mutasa further says that we are corrupt and have a record of being a violent party. It is shocking he is the one who has blood on his hands. People in Makoni know who the father of violence is. He is the one butchered people here who soiled the party’s name through his gang Simudza Makoni.
“He is undermining the authority of President Mugabe and we will not sit and watch him continue with his behavior,” he said.
Mutasa’s mobile phone went unanswered when The Sunday Mail sought his comment yesterday.

Fungai Mbetsa and Didymus Mutasa

They never followed proper procedures and through corruption installed their own people in positions of power totally disregarding people’s choices. At the moment Fungai Mbetsa is going against the traditional procedure of appointing the Zimunya chief. The Zimunya people met and it was agreed that Mr Kufandada Dzobo be the new Zimunya Chief but Fungai Mbetsa THE PROVINCIAL Administrator through some corrupt ways is trying to install his own man. The District Administrator had agreed with the people that its time for the Dzobo family to be Chiefs as the chieftainship is supposed to rotate between three families namely Mungwende, Muchakaruka and Kuchakaakwa. Since the passing of Chief Zimunya there has been an acting chief and now the families met and agreed that its time for Mungwende family and Mr Kufandada Dzobo was chosen to be the chief-elect. However a splinter group from Muchakaruka family now wants to be chief again. His job as PA is to install whoever the people have chosen and not to choose himself. He is behaving like Mutasa who used to impose chiefs in Makoni region. However we wont let Fungai Mbetsa have his way. We are gonna appeal to the President regarding this issue. The record shows that the people had agreed on Mr Kufandada Dzobo as the new chief and were awaiting for President Robert Mugabe to second that and sign the necessary papers. Disregarding this Fungai Mbetsa went behind both the DA and the people and started parallel procedures to appoint someone else. We the people of Zimunya we want the authentic chief to be installed. It has to be through fair, transparent, and honest selection of the person. And according to the traditional way of selecting such a person. Fungai Mbetsa is probably being paid by whoever is to be installed. We need the police to investigate what is happening. We demand that Fungai Mbetsa follow the exact procedure and principles of installing a chief. This is how they Mutasa and Fungai Mbetsa have been running Manicaland. With Mutasa gone its high time Fungai Mbetsa is shown the door as well as they are the same people. Trying to stop Amai Dr Grace Mugabe from coming and campaigning in Mutare. We are exposing Fungai Mbetsa as being in Mujuru’s and Mutasa’s camp and he needs to be fired. He is well known for being a Mutasa man and boasting that His Excellency Cde Robert Mugabe is now too old to rule and Mujuru and Mutasa must come in. He calls himself the Emperor of Manicaland!! He even said Cde Robert Mugabe needs to consult him if he wants to come to Manicaland. He is involved in many corrupt activities which we will expose soon. What we are seeing is flagrant miscarriage of justice by a cable bent on doing to the voice of internal descent what they did to the external one (the Opposition Parties) this time in a different version. Let me tell ZANU PF, “IT’S NOW A DIFFERENT BALL-GAME”; you fellow friends have started seeing the light and you are wanted by reason to follow suit before sun rise. I think all this Mutasa situation reflects badly on Mugabe because he is the one who was appointing him to high positions for the last 34 years.
If he was that bad then why then appoint him all these years, the person appointing him must be very incompetent, reckless and and inept. That person is Mugabe.
Apart from punishing Mutasa, another obvious aim is frighten any ZANU-PF heavyweights who sympathize with the Mujuru faction – by demonstrating the risk of prosecution, if they break cover. The interesting thing is that to achieve this end, the party is at the same time forced to expose (and remind us all of) the corrupt and vile nature of the workings of most of its leadership.
Political propaganda. Everyone has skeletons in their closet in the ruling party. No one is righteouse than thou.
I have absolutely no doubt that Didimouse could be guilty of all these things – but then, so could almost every senior Zanoid. Who remembers S.K Moyo and the schoolgirl in Avondale, for instance?
I doubt the MDC are saints, but I am 100% sure that ALL the Zanu hierarchy are criminals. Can anyone name a senior Zanoid who is NOT a criminal? I won’t hold my breath

Which one of any of the leaders has a clean hand anyway including those investigating Mutasa. They should know all what he did was acceptable anyway by the authorities. If he goes to jail then all the chiefs and cabinet ministers should.
