Time To Pile Pressure On Mugabe Is Now: Tsvangirai

via RadioVop Zimbabwe – Time To Pile Pressure On Mugabe Is Now: Tsvangirai 14 September 2014

The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) leader Morgan Tsvangirai told his supporters in Masvingo Saturday that he was going to support those who will gather courage to go in the streets demanding their rights from the government.

Tsvangirai told thousands of his supporters who gathered in Mucheke stadium to celebrate the party’s 15th anniversary that a lot of Zimbabweans are suffering because they are afraid of demanding their rights.

“The problem is that Zimbabweans are very docile. They have a lot of problems affecting them but they do not have the courage to confront the government. I am not calling for violent demonstrations but I will support all those young men and ladies who are prepared to go in the streets demanding their jobs, I will support those who will demand better salaries, those who demand better living conditions,” said Tsvangirai.

Tsvangirai said it was high time that Zimbabweans get organised to pile pressure on President Robert Mugabe.

“The time to pile pressure on Mugabe is now,” he added.

The MDC-T leader said it was unfair for his critics to attack his party for failing to over throw Mugabe.

“Today we are celebrating 15 years meaning that we are just a teenager. We must not aim for positions, our struggle is that of excellence leadership not positions,” added Tsvangirai.

Tsvangirai said he was not against the army and traditional leaders. However, he said MDC-T was against few elements that were being used to advance Zanu PF agenda.

“Just yesterday we saw chiefs being driven like cattle to grace Mugabe’s farm where they were forced to endorse her. We also know that soldiers are beating villagers in Gutu and as a party we are calling for soldiers and chiefs to be professional,” said Tsvangirai. Politics

Zpf was on the verge of ignonimity mid 2008 but MDC rescued Mugabe before going for the jugular as the daft economy was zpf downfall. The opposition collapsed at the last hurdle. 6 wasted years since. Pamberi street uprisings barricade. Zpf cowards really fear this.

Yes MR Tsvangirai. Revenger is correct you stumbled at the last hurdle and should have gone fishing in 2008 when Zanu were on their knees. Instead you decided to save them with this fraudulent unity government idea. Mr Tsvangirai you betrayed Zimbabwe for your pieces of silver, your time has past and you blew your opportunity to lead. RESIGN!

Please let us stop attacking each other. If ever we need unity we need it now. Yes, big mistakes were made and it is very frustrating. In Zimbabwe there should be no individual opposition parties; there should only be one movement if we are to get anywhere. But we are so dumb, so selfish that we all believe having split after split will do the job. Have we learned nothing? We all need to repent and pray!

I am not quite sure how you should apply pressure to a senile old fart? One of the first things the MDC might think about is ceasing engagement with the Zanu regime? Running to Zanu for a few crumbs is rather whore like and the MDC seem to have a history of running to this old fart like a whore? Why would they do this when they just need to tell the world that he stinks? He is a “remarkable senile old fart” – he stinks and has been stinking ever since the Gukuruhundi – never mind what Professor Scoones or Malcolm Fraser might wax lyrical on about.

Is this the best you can offer as a leader? You have got to the end of the tether Sir. You have run out of options. This is what happens if as a leader you limit your options. At Zunde our options are not limited. Kana zvichiipa ngazviipe. Kana dzichirira ngadzirire. Freedom is not cheap Nyika yedu yava mvemve because you failed to provide leadership to kill the beast. Spell out the options and give the people a choice. In fact, start putting them into action. People are suffering now not in 2018. I hope dialogue with ZPF ain’t one of them coz it doesn’twork when the other side ddoesn’t care about nation and country.

yes exactly! All opposition parties need to come together. And I mean all. How many do we have now? MDC T, MDC N, MDC Renewal, Is MDC 99 still going, Zunde, Transform Zimbabwe, MKD, Zapu, and a few others whose names I cannot recall. All you are doing is bringing confusion and splitting the vote. Let the church pray that the Lord Himself will raise up a leader out of this lot who is a man after His own hear. There is a place for all of you if only you will lay down all selfish ambitions.

What you are saying Morgan is good stuff, a pity it is 7-8 years too late. May I make a couple of suggestions. Get yourself a couple of really decent intelligent advisors, rid yourself of the kitchen cabinet some of whom you have been advised have been “bought”, you ignored this advice. Surround yourself with people who have the good of the people and the country at heart. Listen to their advice and talk it through with others until you get concensus, do not just suck things out of your thumb or listen to those that tell you what you want to hear.

Come down to earth Morgan, get back to what you believed in when the MDC started. Go back to the people who trusted you, say sorry, I messed up. Move out of your ZANU house and live amongst your constituents.

If you come off your percieved ivory tower, admit your mistakes, admit that all the time you were having happy tea times with Mugabe, and telling us all what a good guy he is, he was dragging you along by the nose. He and his ZANU party were using the GNU to reorganise and screw you over which they did most succesfully. No point in crying foul re the rigged election, you were told not to go into it, you were told that it was going to be rigged to hell, you were told that the SF commanders would never accept an MDC win. Why did you go into the elections having been told all the above? Were you bought or just plain stupid, or did you listen to those who surround you that there would be a “tsunami” landside victory, grow up Morgan, get real.

If you really believe that you are the Messiah to lead Zimbabwe to a new horizon, cut out the violence which you have been involved in, within your party. Start afresh and it is just possible that the good people who supported you in the past might, just might come back and support you again. This also refers to the donor community who have cut you off as they consider you a and yours a waste of time and money.

Accept the fact that the mess you are in is largely because of your, stupidity and possibly your greed (As you know there are many stories about irregular use of funds/strange payouts etc)

I personally believe you are yesterdays man, I challenge you to prove me wrong. If you manage to do so I will be the first to help you in anyway I can.

Well said @Insider, exactly my sentiments. If he has the courage to take & act on your advice the respect I had for him will return after all we all make mistakes. Not holding my breath however as with virtually all African leaders its always someone else’s fault. You have a chance to redeem yourself won’t you take it!!!!

Now he wants to ‘support’, not lead? This whole thing shows us one thing, Morgan wants to remain relevant, but only by riding on the backs of others. He wants to appear brave, whilst he is pushing others to start something that he will then ‘support’.

Tell us Morgan, how differently you would govern if you are given the chance. Tell us, homeboy, in what way you are better than Mugabe, and if you convince us, we will vote for you in 2018. In the meantime, don’t waste our time with baby talk.

Firstly Tsvangirai needs to know that people need leadership not support, if they match into the streets. Marches need coordination.

To people who dwell in past losses, we may never move forward. Let’s look at what we have now and use all that can be to our advantage. My opinion is Mugabe can only bow down to mass people power and at this time Tsvangirai and his MDC have the people muscle required.

All other opposition parties and leaders command only few numbers. Mugabe can only flinch if the stink makes him look bad in the eyes of SADC and AU who have provided him with shelter all this time.

those who would love to attack Mr Tsvangirayi, have used this site to do it. They are now advised to come to Zimbabwe and work with him and advise him of the next best course of action.. We do not believe in those outside the country preaching to those who have had to face the music, in side this prison land. It is easier said than done.

Therefore those with brilliant past records and who know it all, may they please stand up and be counted. Zimbabweans are going through hard times now, but they will come out of this alright. The future belongs with the Almighty and not with Mr Mugabe or anyone else. He certainly has a better plan for this country than all those who profess to know how to govern this land. May the Almighty give us strength and his guidance in this hard times. We pray.

There is a saying “only fools laugh at others but not themselves” Imagine if we all have a say in what was done to our country long ago we would not be having these tedious and fruitless discussions now. Our cowardice goes beyond measure and we have become the laughing stock of the world. Where others are dying to rid themselves of tyrants we are grovelling to one instead. Morgan you are right in saying what you said. If there is no resistence there will be no change. This mugabe has no respect for us. One thing I must say about Mugabe he has learnt well from the murungu. He marries a young woman half his age and then pits her against his allies. This allows his dynasty to cöntinue. Talk about loving the Queen . You simply followed suit. Clever Robert very clever.

Mr Tsvangirai, you really amaze me because you seem to have not changed since I last met you and your newly graduated Mr Chamisa two six years ago before the GNU.You did not listen to our advice not to join the GNU.
You are now trying to justify your total failure by saying your party is still a teenager-Why then did you fool innocent MDC activists to campaign for your party which has still in its infancy to get hurt in the process? Is that good leadership?
Your mps are so happy with their new RANGERS vehicles, they are now benefiting from the system they claim to be rotten with clear conscience. If they were genuine leaders, peoples’ interests and welfare would come first before accepting these expensive vehicles. The Harare city council is now paying two guys who did a stupid investigation which was obvious to all intelligent people. This is abuse of council funds.
In all honest you failed the masses who used to sacrifice their lives demonstrating, therefore you are not being fair to think the masses are cowards when your leadership just wants to mislead these poor people for its cheap political gains.I always advise my countrymen in Matebeleland to be careful when they read these statements from these politicians. You failed us twice now -What guarantees do we have that you won’t fail us again?
