Zim Police Deploy Water Cannons Ahead of Anti-Govt Protest

via RadioVop Zimbabwe – Zim Police Deploy Water Cannons Ahead of Anti-Govt Protest 31 July 2014

Zimbabwean police on Thursday deployed water cannon trucks in central Harare in bid to suppress an anti-government
protest organised by opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party.
Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party supporters have planned to stage a demonstration in Harare to protest against President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF government’s failure to create millions of jobs it promised to generate during the run up to last year’s sham general elections which Mugabe’s party won amid several irregularities.
A confrontation is likely to ensue between the police and the MDC-T supporters. More details to follow

How can they have water-cannon trucks when the average Zimbabwean cannot get water for surviving?

These trucks were purchased from Israel in the 80s. Highly unlikely that they are fully operational and where will they get the water from? Will have to be open water e.g. a dam. Not too difficult to block their way is it? Probably get them stuck in the mud on their own.

Morgan you have made it a political party issue – big mistake. Let civil society take on the government and throw them out

Agreed. The issues at stake affect all Zimbabweans, regardless of party persuasion. Grandstanding as one party is not a wise move.

How much does an average ZRP officer make? How much compensation does an average ZANU Youth Activist get? Anyone?

This demonstration will be a flop because it is organised by the MDC.

I bet the water cannons were bought from Israel/likuv. Instaed of buying water pumping and purification equipment for the major cities.
Zanu is rotten to the core.

I doubt that, they bend the rules to suit themselves. There is no one to support a radical movement who would do like wise, unless you find oil and the Yanks will invade for a cut price deal.

Lets see how much support Morgan has. If they don’t turn out will he now realise he has lost the respect of his members and will he resign. I bet not.
