War veterans commend First lady

Veterans of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle yesterday said the use of money and deception were threatening the stability of Zanu-PF and commended the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe for exposing the vices.
Speaking at Grace Mugabe Children’s Home in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central, where they were congratulating the First Lady for being nominated to lead the Women’s League, the war veterans said most party structures had become dysfunctional because of factionalism.

“For a number of years we have been witnessing the party being destroyed by lies and money until our mother, the First Lady, came and stopped the rot by exposing the people behind it,” said chairman of the Zimbabwe Political Detainees and ex-Restrictees Association Cde Victor Kuretu.

“She has spoken against bribing people and all the issues that were giving us sleepless nights, so we want to thank her.”
Cde Kuretu said the entrance of Amai Mugabe into active politics will rejuvenate and unite the party.

Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators Association chairman Cde Pupurai Togarepi said Zanu-PF had been infiltrated by opposition forces.
“We have realised that Zanu-PF was infiltrated by opposition forces.

“MDC came, but we could deal with it, but the problem was the opposition that is within.
“That is why we have called on the First Lady to come in,” he said.

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association secretary general Cde Shadreck Makombe urged people to follow the wishes of the masses or risk being isolated.

“Even during the war we had some power struggles that were caused by our enemies, but we always prevailed because anyone who went against the wind was swept away,” he said.

Cde Makombe told the First Lady not to take notice of negative things being said about her because there would be adversaries along the way.

Outgoing Women’s League secretary Cde Oppah Muchinguri, who is also a war veteran, said factionalism had created two centres of power in the party.

“Zvangazvoti kune Politburo, kuCabinet vane Politburo yavowo.
“If you have such a situation it’s chaos,” she said.

“We have one leader leading us today, one who is not selective.
“We thought we had liberated the country, but the British are now back using some of us.”

Cde Muchinguri said some people were planning to topple President Mugabe in December at the party’s National People’s Congress, hence the idea to bring in Amai Mugabe whom she described as a “game changer.”

“Ndakati kwete mungadherera ini asi kuna saviour, game changer. Takatsvaga sando isingabwedebwede,” she said. “We want to protect ourselves as war veterans and our leader (President Mugabe) who has sacrificed a lot for us.”

Cde Muchinguri said those who were planning to topple the President should apologise.

The use of money is vote buying. Calling people to a meeting in your individual establishment has the same effect. What is Grace talking about. War veterants of today are not the same as the ones I knew during the war. The true war veterants are gone, dead and buried.

Oprah is showing the whole nation that she is not a leader. She is a dullard, she’s the one who’s destroying the party.she can’t match the leadership qualities of the vice president then she’s thinks because grace is married to the president she might dislodge the vs. Grace is the worst coz what she has done since she was Co – opted is disastrous to the party.she waffles without any serious thought . Zimbabwe is not a country for a family or some so called war veterans. It’s for all.The VI has shown her allegiance to the president, the constitution , he government, the party and the people of Zimbabwe. What has she done that she deserves this.Graces advisors are seriously misleading her, how can she go around the whole country dressing down seniors like that.I felt sorry for my dear Kaukonde. She must start from the the cell structure then go up not kubatira pamutsipa apo no wonder she is waffling coz she’s not mature . People should remember every party has order of hierarchy. Who comes first in that leadership hierarchy kwete zvemadisnyongoro.
