HARARE – Zanu PF must call its members to order during its ongoing discordant restructuring exercise throughout the country to stop the escalating spates of violence from spiralling out of control, the Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP) has said.
The Jestina Mukoko-led ZPP said this following growing intra-party violence in President Robert Mugabe’s belligerent party that saw two Zanu PF members, Lloyd Jambawo and Marko Masenda being axed to death by fellow party member, Proud Mupambwa, following a district election in Chitungwiza last Saturday.
The incident was followed, two days later, by the mysterious death of Mupambwa in an alleged case of suicide while he was in police custody.
“ZPP notes with concern the acrimony and resulting violence that has been widely shored up to the surface by the ruling party’s current restructuring exercise across the country,” ZPP said in a statement yesterday.
ZPP said fist fights, intimidation and other forms of harassment have characterised the restructuring exercise which is currently taking place.
This, the political watchdog group said, is a result of “insurmountable conflicts”.
While the volatile factional ructions have been widespread across the country, ZPP notes Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central and now Chitungwiza and Harare as being the most volatile.
“As such ZPP strongly calls upon Zanu PF to rein in its membership and constructively deal with the protracted and internecine factional warring forthwith to prevent additional or further violence and/or murders”.
The peace advocacy organisation warned political actors in the country to value life saying no political outcome was worth dying for and that blood should not be spilled over positions and factional ruptures.

Good point, but don’t forget the old adage “once a … always a…”. In the case of zanu pf thugs & murderous, just remember these are brainwashed goons led & trained by a 91 yr old heartless thug who, in his happiest moods, prides himself of “having degrees in violence”.
So indeed, these zanu pf thugs & murderers learnt from the best. Mind you, when the 91 old thug boasts of his unparalleled abilities as violence he really means it.
So, is their any chance on earth of the devil himself “reining in” his ardent foot soldiers? Good luck on this one.
